Burt Reynolds and director Hal Needham team up for the fourth time, this time bringing an all-star cast of characters on a cross-country car race in the vein of 1976 release The Gumball Rally. The police are the least of the Cannonballers' worries as they push the pedal to the metal in a race from Connecticut to California. Reynolds stars as J.J. McClure, a speed-loving racer disguised as an ambulance driver to outsmart the police. He is paired up with Dom Deluise, who plays his dimwitted sidekick Victor and who, on occasion, dons the suit of Captain Chaos. Rat Packers Dean Martin and Sammy Davis, Jr. join the lineup as Ferrari-driving priests, while martial arts expert Jackie Chan takes on one of his first U.S. film roles driving a souped-up Subaru. Among the many other stars are Roger Moore doing a parody of his 007 character, complete with secret devices and weapons, Farrah Fawcett as Pamela, a woman McClure and Chaos pick up, and Jamie Farr as a deranged Islamic sheik. Jack Elam joins the cast as a crazed proctologist along for McClure's ambulance ride, and Needham makes a cameo as a patient.~Rachel Koetje

Buckle up buds, cause the race is on! A cross-continental race with a win pot of mucho $$ attracts a bunch of zany racers to speed from one coast to the other while dodging police and each other, all the while getting into trouble, to be the first over the finish-line and win the funniest race ever. So long before anyone drove very fast or furious, this movie hit the roads with a tank full of laughs and a cast of not quite all there, at least in the sanity department, of Hollywood royalty. If you're a fan of any of the cast of this movie, who are too numerous to list here, get this movie. You will NOT be disappointed!
Cannonball Run is a hilarious movie to see, it has an all-star cast of actors and Dom Deluise & Burt Reynolds are teamed up again for even more great comedy and Dean Martin & Sammy Davis Jr. make a great comedy team also in a cross country race in disguises. It truly is a great movie to see, I'm glad I finally found it brand new and flawless.
Dun Dun Dunnn! Cannonball Run still packs a punch.

I hadn't seen the film in about 20 years and expected to be disappointed. However, I was shocked by how funny it is still. Campy? Incredibly! But there's 90 minutes of nostalgia with an unbeatable cast. I may have tired of constantly rewatching it back in the day, but enough time had passed to make it fresh again. Plus, it's a far cry better than Cannonball Run II and I can't even begin to tell you how much better it is than the horrendous third installment, Speed Zone (aka Cannonball Fever).
I watched this movie not too long ago, but it's one of the most light-hearted and goofy films that I've seen. Burt Reynolds leads an all-star cast in this film, and if you're looking for a fun diversion from the world right now, here you go!
I wouldn't give this an excellent rating because the story isn't perfect, but I will continue to recommend this movie because of how much of a great time I had with it.
I would recommend this to a friend

Slapstick comedy about an illegal cross country car race with an ensemble cast. Plenty of running gags with the dodges used to avoid the law and Roger Moore as a man pretending to be a famous actor that played a spy.
I am very satisfied with my recent purchase from best buy . The movies make excellent Christmas presents and cannonball run is a awesome movie know matter how old you are. The package arrived promptly and was packaged well so thank you very much.
