The Free World is an incredible film that I recommend anyone watch if you're eyeing it. Boyd Holbrook does and absolutely amazing job in his portrayal of Mo Lundy. There were several things I didn't catch or understand watching it the first time, but the more I viewed it the more I caught on to the subtle hints he gave through mere expression. It gave me a better understanding of his character because, as the synopsis states, he's recently been released from prison for a crime he didn't commit, but they don't really allude to it very much. Boyd does an outstanding job. I simply cannot get enough of him.
Elizabeth Moss does a really fine job, as well. Her character could be anyone and she's so accepting of her situation it's almost cathartic to watch her. There are a few instances where she's a little over the top, but again, I think she meant to portray Doris that way.
It's a really good film. Give it a shot and I think you may end up enjoying it.
