Underrated flick!
|Posted .I loved the story when I read it so many years ago - It was one that I wanted to see on the big screen! Darabont has got BIG brass ones, and proves it with the ending. Thomas Jane - Stud Laurie Holden - never a bad choice in my book Marcia Gay Harden - Great actress, but I don't like the character she played. I don't care for the way Christians are portrayed in movies. Loving Christ doesn't make you a religious nut! The Mist - You'll never look at mist/fog the same way again! The music played in the ending scenes sets the tone perfect. Pic attached is from my 65" Sony 4K

Beware The Mist!
|Posted .Owned for 5 months when reviewed.I would recommend this to a friendThe Mist is a daring adaptation of a Stephen King short story (from the collection Skeleton Crew). I was obsessed with the PC game of The Mist when I was in middle school. The movie adds a lot that the short story didn't have, including a lot of new and different monsters--though in "Twilight Zone" fashion, some of the people are also pretty terrible monsters as well. The Mist is a film not afraid to be dark. This story also inspired a TV series based loosely on the short story and this film.

A Durabont Horror Film
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendFrank Durabont is fantastic filmmaker, and this is one of the most unique and interesting Horror/Thrillers I've ever seen. The low budget caused the CGI in the movie to suffer so it's only serviceable effects and it can look low budget at times, but it's incredibly well made with lots of talent with The recourses they had.

50's style Horror-Scifi
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendIf you were raised back in the day when Creature Feature was prevalent on public TV, then you will agree " The Mist " parallels the old 50's style monster movies. The story, acting and FX were quite good, with some very good performances from the cast. synopsis - David Drayton (Thomas Jane) is an artist living with his wife and son in small town, USA. Following a terrible thunderstorm that knocks out the power and uproots a decades-old tree that falls through the home, David, his son Billy (Nathan Gamble), and next door neighbor with whom David is at-odds, Brent (Andre Braugher), head to the local Supermarket to pick up a few supply's, during the shopping spree an unusual fog comes rolling in on the town. At this point terror ensues as people in the parking area begin to scream in terror... Something is terribly wrong in the mist! The survivors hold up inside the market, only to find, the biggest danger is a pseudo holy roller preaching that the mist is a result of Gods anger and creates havoc by turning the survivors against one another. In the final moments escaping survivors give the viewer an ending that is as shocking as it is controversial. video - 1080p/AVC MPEG-4 encode (2.40:1) ratio. This is a very fine transfer to Blu-ray on a BD-50 dual-layer disc. The black and white version is supplied on a BD-25 single layer disc. Colors are true to life with clarity and good definition with no filtering noted grain is minimal. audio - presented in Dolby TrueHD 5.1 Surround (48khz/24-bit) this is a very solid encode into hidef with good use of satellites. Discrete effects are effective in the rear zones. Mark Isham's score sounds fantastically creepy and Dialogue is clean and intelligible, without surging. extra's - All are presented in hidef which is the way it should be, even the trailer. commentary by Frank Darabont - When Darkness Came: The Making of The Mist - Featurettes (Monsters Among Us: A Look at the Creature F/X) - Deleted Scenes - Theatrical Trailers HD.. If you enjoy good horror movies like I do, I think you will really enjoy this rare treasure in the Scifi/Horror Genre..

Personal King Favorite
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendThe Mist is a personal Stephen King favorite of mine. My favorite aspect of this release is the inclusion of both the color and B&W versions of the film.
