About This Item

Band splits, abortive sessions, abandoned songs and a tag under siege all contributed to the triumph that was Mother Earth's third LP, You Have Been Watching. Never the most cohesive of units, the 1994 classic People Tree had been hailed, but it's two year recording process had seen the band lose two members, and almost sink the record tag as it was recorded in expensive studios throughout the UK. It's follow up was meant to be recorded quickly as an antidote, but the first sessions - without a producer - delivered nothing, after which band front man Matt Deighton went off and recorded his solo album with his new wife. It could have been the end of Mother Earth. Instead, refreshed from the break they reconvened at Acid Jazz studios and finished the album in a couple of weeks. Mixing Stax soul, dub and space rock, it was released in the late summer to great success. Tracks such as InchTo WarInch, InchCompare YourselfInch and InchGet AlongInch, quickly became live favorites, whilst InchPosterInch and InchHold On To Your HeadInch show some of Deighton's most sensitive writing. Acid Jazz is reissuing the album in a facsimile of the original gatefold sleeve, on lilac vinyl that matches the LP artwork. Album Tracks 1. (Never Gonna Get) to War! 2. Get Along 3. Wham Bam Thank You Mam 4. Freethinker 5. Non Corporealness 6. Very Together 7. Compare Yourself 8. Hold on to Your Head 9. Poster 10. The Desired Effect 11. The Life Eternity

Deftones - Around the Fur - VINYL LP
    4.6(12)

Around the Fur the follow-up to Deftones' passionate, aggressive Adrenaline, sees the California quartet expanding on the sheer rage of their earlier work, adding new, more sinister shades to their already extreme sound. The opening InchMy Own Summer (Shove It),Inch serves as an introduction to the album's sonic theme sinewy guitars and eerie whispers alternate with fast, violent crunch. Sepultura's Max Cavallero contributes guitar and vocals to InchHeadup,Inch while InchMXInch finds singer Chino trading off vocal lines with Annalynn Cunningham, (wife of Deftones' drummer Abe) in an acerbic take on the rock star mentality. Vocal acrobat Moreno attacks a variety of styles his breathy, psychotic recitations sound downright industrial, while the album's calmer, more brooding moments show his gift for haunting melody. Behind him, guitarist Stephen Carpenter's heavy wall of sound is astoundingly muscular, yet inspiringly agile. When Deftones' hellish fury hits full tilt, as it always does on this album, Moreno's voice erupts into screams which are best described as otherworldly, transforming this intense musical firestorm into a hurtling juggernaut of aggression. This LP version comes pressed on 180 gram vinyl. Album Tracks 1. My Own Summer (Shove It) 2. Lhabia 3. Mascara 4. Around the Fur 5. Rickets 6. Be Quiet and Drive (Far Away) 7. Lotion 8. Dai the Flu 9. Headup 10. MX
