1619 Bad Ass Band - World / For Your Love - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

The 1619 Bad Ass Band were a soul funk aggregation that hailed from New Jersey and played gigs around the tri-state area of New York - New Jersey - Philadelphia in the mid to late 1970's. The band was formed by Khalid Abdul Shalid, who played keyboards and wrote most of the band's material along with bass player Karl Harris. Harris' younger sister Phyllis was the main vocalist with the band. Their self-titled album from 1976 is one of the most sought after records on the rare 1970's soul scene and vinyl copies of the album remain scarce. Even rarer is an early single the band released nearly 3 years before their full length debut. Originally released in 1973, InchWorldInch b/w InchFor Your LoveInch is presented here newly remastered from the original 7Inch vinyl mixes and finally available in the digital domain.

Angel Bat Dawid - Oracle - VINYL LP

Composer, clarinetist, singer & spiritual jazz soothsayer Angel Bat Dawid descended on Chicago's jazz & improvised music scene just a couple years ago. In very short time, the potency, prowess, spirit & charisma of her cosmic musical proselytizing has taken her from relatively unknown improviser to borderline ubiquitous performer in Chicago's avant-garde. On any given night you can find Angel adding aura to ensembles led by Ben LaMar Gay, or Damon Locks, or Jaimie Branch, or Matthew Lux, or even, on a Summer night in 2018, onstage doing a woodwind duo with Roscoe Mitchell. For her recorded debut on International Anthem, The Oracle, we've chosen to a batch of tracks that Angel created entirely alone - performing, overdubbing & mixing all instruments & voices by her self - recorded using only her cell phone in various locations, from London UK to Cape Town RSA, but primarily from her residency in the attic of the historic Radcliffe Hunter mansion in Bronzeville, Southside, Chicago.1 Destination (Dr. Yusef Lateef)2 Black Family3 What Shall I Tell My Children Who Are Black (Dr. Margaret Burroughs)4 Impepho5 We Are Starzz6 London7 Capetown (feat. King! Born Benjamin Earl Nelson in Henderson, North Carolina on September 28, 1938, the future Mr. King moved up the east coast to Harlem when he was only nine years old, but the change in locale ultimately proved fortuitous for the singer in 1958, he became a member of a doo-wop group known as the Five Crowns, who found themselves selected by manager George Treadwell to replace the members of The Drifters that he'd fired. As the new lead singer of The Drifters, King's voice was soon emerging from radios all around America, singing such instant classics as InchSave the Last Dance for Me, Inch InchThis Magic Moment, Inch and InchThere Goes My Baby, Inch which King co-wrote with Lover Patterson, George Treadwell, Jerry Lieber, and Mike Stoller. Unfortunately, a contract dispute led King to depart the group's ranks, but it all worked out in the end, as that's when he adopted his stage name, embarked on a solo career, and started to create musical magic with InchSpanish HarlemInch and InchStand by Me.Inch
