28 Years Later: The Bone Temple - DVD [Standard]

Two young couples take a misguided tour onto the back roads of America in search of a local legend known as Dr. Satan. Lost and stranded, they are set upon by a bizarre family of psychotics. Rob Zombie directed this horror film, starring Rainn Wilson, Sid Haig, Karen Black, Walt Goggins and Phil Moseley.

Alone on the quarantined British mainland and trying to survive pursuit by the infected, young Spike (Alife Williams) threw in with a small pack of Satanists led by the charismatic if deranged Jimmy Crystal (Jack O'Connell). That poor choice would bring Spike back into the orbit of Dr. Ian Kelso (Ralph Fiennes), whom Crystal decided would be the means of keeping his eroding hold on his cultists. Fourth franchise entry from director Nia DaCosta and scripter Alex Garland co-stars Erin Kellyman, Chi Lewis-Parry. 109 min. Widescreen; Soundtrack English.

In this bleak and unsettling franchise entry directed by Nia DaCosta, survival itself feels morally compromised. A young boy navigating a ravaged Britain falls in with a cult whose charismatic leader offers protection at the price of sanity. Ralph Fiennes brings grave intensity as a doctor forced back into the nightmare he hoped to end. Written by Alex Garland, the film leans into dread rather than spectacle, asking what kind of society crawls out after the apocalypse.
