Abegg Trio - Dvorak Piano Trios 1 - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Casadesus - Rameau Scarlatti Mozart Hay [COMPACT DISCS] date 08/16/2007

It's common knowledge among Janacek that the First String Quartet began life as a piano trio, most of which was either lost or destroyed. (...) Anyone who loves this composer will certainly want to hear it, and the Abegg Trio plays with the kind of commitment and passion that the music requires. (...) This fascinating experiment makes a fine foil to a similarly excellent performance of Smetana's strangely neglected single work in the trio medium. The Abegg manages to differentiate the tempos and emotional nuances of the first two movements (otherwise so similar) with notable success, and the Presto finale has an athletic vigor that comes from elasticity of rhythm and supple phrasing rather than mere speed. As usual, Tacet's sonics are gorgeous. Definitely worth a listen. (classics today)

In the history of Jazz there is several legendary groups with this instrumentation- saxophone, bass and drums are an open, creative, and flexible great fun to play in, and exciting to listen to! It can carry out the music just like a big constellation, but the field is more open for the musicians' musical excursions. This group started with a spontaneous gig in Stockholm. Hans, Oscar and Magnus met at Jazz Club Glenn Miller Café, and almost immediately they found the sound of the group and a natural interplay! Hans Backenroth is one of today's foremost bassists and musicians, and during the last decades he has played all over the world with many top jazz musicians. He was a longtime member of legendary Swedish groups led by Arne Domnerus, Putte Wickman and Kjell Öhman, and he is the first choice when international stars visit Scandinavia. Oscar Johansson-Werre is an award winning young drummer from Uppsala. He has already played with jazz giants like Berndt Rosengren, Nisse Sandström, Jan Allan och Harry Allen. 2010 he won the award Most Valuable Player on the Youth Jazz Festival in Stockholm, and 2017 he got the Ronnie Gardiners Swedish Drummer Deserving Wider Recognition Award.
