Abysmal Grief - Taetra Philosophia - VINYL LP

The Grief is the third album by Swedish pop-group Winhill/Losehill 12 vigorous and heartfelt songs charged with black-edged lyrics and melodies that seem torn from the fabric of the sky. After a seven year hiatus since the sextets symphonic Trouble Will Snowball, the songwriting duo Jonas Svennem (composer, singer, producer) and Carl Åkerlund (lyrics) has written a spirited set of songs sure of their aim, dealing with dreams, regrets and getting through life and it's setbacks without wanting to give up. With richly layered arrangements, electrifying instrumental performances and rousing rhythm sections, The Grief is suffused with a spacious lustre of sounds that brings to mind Bon Iver, Arcade Fire or Rufus Wainwright, and organic acoustics reminiscent of The Band and Nina Simone. Mixed by Måns Lundberg (Ariel Pink, Shout Out Louds, Amason) and featuring Ji Nilsson (Pure Shores) on backing vocals, as well as in a heated duet.1. The Grief Pt.2. Human River3. Foreclosure Day4. Although a relatively new act itself, Static Abyss comprises of longstanding members of the US metal scene. The band consists of the duo of Greg Wilkinson (Guitars/bass) & Chris Reifert (drums/vocals), both members of legendary American masters of sickness Autopsy, with Greg (also of cult act Deathgrave) recently becoming the band's new permanent bass player for the band's 'Morbidity Triumphant' opus. 'Aborted From Reality' follows swiftly on from Static Abyss' 2022 debut, 'Labyrinth Of Veins', itself a wild & contagious ride through a nightmarish soundscape. The album presents a stark contrast between a brutal wall of riffs & crawling darkly hypnotic guitar leads burying themselves under the skin & combines for a sick & unnerving experience through Death Metal combined with Crust & Doom elements. Chris' unmistakable vocals come spewing from the depths of insanity in this soundtrack to an anxiety-filled dimension, backing up the twisted riffs from Greg's own cauldron of mental chaos. 'Aborted From Reality' was recorded at Earhammer Studios in Oakland, CA, & Great American Music Hall, with engineering, mixing & mastering overseen by Greg himself. Following on from the debut , cover art appears once again courtesy of All Things Rotten. This edition of 'Aborted From Reality' is presented on limited edition Toxic Green vinyl, including printed inner sleeve with lyrics. Album Tracks 1. Aborted from Reality (03 06) 2.
