About this product

2018 . The discovery of the music of Leadbelly was transformative for young Adam Nussbaum. The only child of artistic parents in Norwalk, Connecticut, Nussbaum was exposed to many recordings, from classical and folk to jazz and blues. It was the image of Huddie Ledbetter on the original Folkways 10-inch record covers that fascinated the five year old. The celebrated blues and folk musician's music seared itself into his ears, as it does in young listeners, informing the future drummer's musical approach for years to come, most explicitly on his new recording, The Leadbelly Project. Album Tracks 1. Old Riley 2. Green Corn 3. Black Girl (Where Did You Sleep Last Night) 4. Bottle Up and Go 5. Black Betty 6. Grey Goose 7. Bring Me a Little Water, Sylvie 8. You Can't Loose Me Cholly 9. Insight, Enlight 10. Sure Would Baby 11. Goodnight Irene

Adam Nussbaum - Lead Belly Re-imagined - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

There are reasons aplenty for the music listening population's attention being swayed by Lead Belly. The songs that he sang were appealingly forthright and uncomplicated. His voice and powerful 12-string guitar were strong and enticing. Because of his magnetism, Lead Belly's music remains a touchstone in blues's evolution into rock, soul and jazz music. // Two years ago, Sunnyside released drummer Adam Nussbaum's first true recording as a leader, and fantastic tribute to one of his idols, The Lead Belly Project. Nussbaum's band of saxophonist Ohad Talmor and dual guitarists, Steve Cardenas and Nate Radley, ably channeled a program of Lead Belly tunes chosen by the leader, mainly culled from the Folkway Recordings 10-inch records Nussbaum grew up listening to. The project allowed Nussbaum to show another side of his musical character that he hadn't previously been able to showcase regularly during his remarkable forty-year career. // In July of 2019, Nussbam and the ensemble returned to Talmor's home studio, Seeds, in Brooklyn. They recorded with no separation between the musicians and entirely live. The musicians' comfort with the material and each other can be heard in the results, as the pieces have an emotional intimacy that goes beyond their prior efforts. The result of these recordings can be heard on their new album, Lead Belly Reimagined. There are reasons aplenty for the music listening population's attention being swayed by Lead Belly. Adam Rudolph - Resonant Bodies - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

The project features 8 of the most exciting and dynamic guitarists on todays music scene Nels Cline, Liberty Ellman Joel Harrison, Jerome Harris, Miles Okazaki, Damon Banks, Marco Capelli, David Gilmore, Kenny Wessel. What might a InchFuture OrchestraInch sound like? Composer, percussionist, and conductor Adam Rudolph has again created an illuminating and original answer to that question with his innovative Go Organic Guitar Orchestra. He convened eight of New York City's finest and most adventurous guitarists Nels Cline, Liberty Ellman, David Gilmore, Miles Okazaki, Joel Harrison, and Kenny Wessel on electric guitars and effects; Marco Cappelli on acoustic guitar and effects and Jerome Harris on electric guitar, electric bass guitar, and Damon Banks on bass guitar. Each of these remarkable guitarists are composers and bandleaders in their own right, with a collective musical experience that spans a universe of contemporary music, from Wilco to Cassandra Wilson to Ornette Coleman and beyond. Resonant Bodies is the 12th in Adam Rudolph's series of recordings for Go Organic Orchestra, his concept for InchnewInch global/creative orchestra that he began developing in 2001. His previous recordings for Go Organic Orchestra featured an array of instrumentation to bring to life his unique creative music. But for Resonant Bodies Rudolph envisioned a new kind of orchestral sound conveyed by a single instrument guitar, whose strings, coaxed by the right hands, are capable of unleashing an orchestra of different musical sounds. He says InchI try to do something new with each performance and recording. This time I wanted to experiment with a new kind of orchestration. I felt that with their range of sound and rhythm, these eight electric guitarists could generate a sonic palate that had never been heard before. I was looking for a new kind of InchFuture OrchestraInch - an
