About this product
2014 third album from the Irish math rock trio. 'If Adebisi Shank's album naming methods are a little functional, sonically they are anything but The band were inspired by a diverse spread of influences including ELO, Enya, Mike Oldfield, Pixar, Crash Bandicoot and Game of Thrones. The result is a retro-futurist brand of math that sounds as close to 80s soft rock and hair metal as it does to the tricksy likes of Battles and Don Caballero.'- the Guardian.

Among the most important and influential progressive rock bands of the late '60s and early '70s, Soft Machine initially featured a line-up of Robert Wyatt (drums, vocals), Kevin Ayers (bass, guitar, vocals), Daevid Allen (guitar) and Mike Ratledge (organ). Emerging from the UK (Canterbury) underground in 1967, they featured prominently at epoch-making London venues such as the UFO Club and Middle Earth to establish a powerful reputation over the next decade with a series of accomplished albums and some innovative concert performances; notably in the UK and France. After two albums for ABC/Probe, they signed to CBS with a line-up consisting of Wyatt, Ratledge, saxophonist Elton Dean and bassist Hugh Hopper, releasing this, their most successful long player, in 1970. Marking the beginning of their journey away from their psychedelic roots and into jazz and contemporary electronic music, it is unconventional to an extreme, consisting of four stunning side-long compositions, and is universally regarded as not just their best record but one of the best progressive rock albums ever recorded; one that pushed the boundaries of genre without being pretentious.

RIYL BO Diddley, Rolling Stones, MFC Chicken. The Spanish trio have finally escaped their garage restraints and are unleashing their other sonic experiences on us. The Spanish trio are playing games with us on the cover of Inch3Inch, depicted in a Fuzztonian fashion on the great artwork of Mikel Echandi. Alfredo, Santi and Pablo have finally escaped their garage restraints and are unleashing their other sonic experiences on us. Their third album includes Rock'n'Roll - with emphasis on the latter - harmonically propelled Rhythm and Blues (InchIdiotaInch), pianos running amok and swing-loaded saxophones (InchHe Venido A BuscarteInch), and songs that bleed choruses worthy of Argentinian Stones worshippers (InchMenos MalInch), and poultry-inspired guitars à la MFC Chicken (InchAutocontrolInch). There is even a tropical and circus-like cumbia of death (InchCumbia de la MuerteInch). A song that makes them soar up to heights not reached in their previous works. Miguel Pérez InchMitchInch on piano and Dani Niño (The Limboos) on baritone saxophone help build a solid frame and armour their sound, emerging from the Studios at Casa Mabe, a rural house located in the mountains of La Rioja with David Garrido behind the desk. Mutagénicos' prose reminds us that we all have asked ourselves more than once What do they want from me? Starting from that premise, they recite elegant farewells to the charlatans du jour (InchEres El MejorInch), they lay out eloquent pleas for the use of the weekend as shock therapy treatment (InchResetearInch), and can move from lowly subjects like Nightclub courtship (InchDarlo TodoInch) to the more elevated levels of theological dissertations with a cynical touch (InchActualiceSu FeInch). They wrap up Inch3Inch with a sui generis interpretation of the radio script of InchThe War of the WorldsInch threat from outer space, news bulletins, alien machines an
