Adulthood - BLU-RAY

There's never a shortage of travails for adult kids of aging parents, but it went to another level for sibs Noah and Meg Robles (Josh Gad, Kaya Scodelario), who started cleaning the homestead after their mom was hospitalized with a major stroke-and found the corpse of their 30-years-missing neighbor walled up in the basement. Rather than go to the cops, they opt to get rid of the body themselves... which precipitates more disaster. Dark farce co-featuring Billie Lourd, Anthony Carrigan, and director Alex Winter. 97 min. Widescreen; Soundtrack English. Region Free

Back in Clinton Era L.A., 13-year-old Stevie (Sunny Suljic) wasn't getting much attention from his oft-absent single mom (Katherine Waterston), or much more than abuse from his moody, damaged big brother (Lucas Hedges). When he falls in with a pack of slightly older skateboard kids, he may find the acceptance he seeks-and maybe more trouble than he can deal with. Jonah Hill's trenchant debut as writer-director co-stars Na-kel Smith, Gio Galicia, Ryder McLaughlin, Olan Prenatt, Alexa Demie. 84 min. Widescreen; Soundtrack English.

Based on Norman Lindsay's controversial autobiographical 1935 novel, Age of Consent is the story of an artist (James Mason), grown tired of producing art for wealthy Americans, who moves to the wilds of Australia's Great Barrier Reef where he meets Cora (Helen Mirren), a teenage girl who inspires him and becomes his muse - as well as the object of his desire. The penultimate film from the great Michael Powell (Black Narcissus, The Red Shoes, Peeping Tom), Age of Consent explores the obsessive nature of an artist approaching the twilight of his career. Misjudged and mis-handled on it's initial (when the distributor removed key scenes and re-scored the film), Age of Consent is now regarded as one of Powell's key works. Region free
