About this product
These two works represent the alpha and omega of Mozart. With these performances of Die Entführung aus dem Serail (1782), probably the composer's first absolute masterpiece, and Die Zauberflöte (1791 - the year of his death), René Jacobs penetrates to the heart of Mozartian singspiel. Featuring singers, a chorus and an orchestra ideally suited to the works, these two complete recordings are now among the benchmarks of the discography.

Extremely hard-to-obtain LP from the Ghanaian master composer, producer and musician. Originally released in 1982 by the WEA International tag and then again in Germany in 1985 by Ambolley himself; this is one of his finest albums in our opinion.Ambolley' fuses Highlife, disco and boogie sonics perfectly and features the anthemic club cut, 'Highlife', that we have spinning for a while - always does the job!Gyedu Blay Ambolley is still actively touring today, keeping these vibes alive - he will be touring Europe throughout 2019.Official Mr Bongo reissue. PENTATONE presents Telemann's rarely-performed opera Miriways (1728) with a stellar cast and the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin conducted by Bernard Labadie. Star vocalists such as Andre Morsch (Miriways), Robin Johannsen (Sophi), Sophie Karthäuser (Bemira), Lydia Teuscher (Nisibis) and Michael Nagy (Murzah) offer a string of beautiful baroque arias and scenes in this German-language opera. Miriways is a piece about love, duty and truthfulness, and was based on recent political events in Afghanistan and Persia that actually made headlines in European newspapers, demonstrating the eighteenth-century fascination for the Orient. The opera was recorded live during the Telemann Festival Hamburg in 2017. The Akademie für Alte Musik is generally seen as one of the best period-instruments ensembles of today, and has a substantial PENTATONE discography, including CANTATA with Bejun Mehta (2018), as well as Handel's Concerti grossi op. 6 (released in 2019 and 2020). Robin Johannsen featured on Handel's Parnasso in festa (2017). Andre Morsch, Sophie Karthäuser, Lydia Teuscher, Michael Nagy and Bernard Labadie make their PENTATONE debut.
![Akademie Für Alte Musik Berlin Doyle Rias Kammerchor Berlin - Messiah - COMPACT DISCS [CD]](https://pisces.bbystatic.com/image2/BestBuy_US/images/products/74f99f56-584b-49ec-913c-5b7926810ffe.jpg;maxHeight=422;maxWidth=264?format=webp)
The RIAS Kammerchor Berlin and it's chief conductor Justin Doyle present Handel's Messiah, together with the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin and an all-British quartet of outstanding soloists, consisting of Julia Doyle (soprano), Tim Mead (countertenor), Thomas Hobbs (tenor) and Roderick Williams (bass). Messiah is not only Handel's most famous work, but equally one of the cornerstones of British choral culture. Soon after the work's premiere, a tradition of mass performances full of pomp and circumstance took root, with the Hallelujah as a showstopper. This new period-instruments recording, however, aims to bring the piece back to the size and intimacy of the 1742 premiere in Dublin. The Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin has a substantial PENTATONE discography, including Handel's Concerti grossi Op. 6 and Op. 3, (released in 2019 and 2020), Telemann's opera Miriways (2019) and CANTATA with Bejun Mehta (2018). The RIAS Kammerchor Berlin, Justin Doyle, Julia Doyle, Tim Mead, Thomas Hobbs and Roderick Williams all make their PENTATONE debut.
