About this product
Almost immediately after hearing the Beatles' North American debut album at eight years old, Al di Meola decided he wanted to become a musician. Just 11 years later, he was recruited by Chick Corea to replace Bill Connors in the legendary jazz fusion band Return to Forever, together with Stanley Clarke and Lenny White. His tenure turned out to be a short one-just two years-but turned out to coincide with the group's career peak. Around the time the group broke up, he released his first record Land of the Midnight Sun, followed by Elegant Gypsy already a year later. Here, he showcased his prowess for fast electric guitar riffs, lyrical acoustic passages, and every technique in between. The record clearly showcases his predilection for flamenco and Latin jazz, exemplified by the record's two most important tunes InchMediterranean SundanceInch and InchRace With Devil On Spanish HighwayInch. Elegant Gypsy is available as a limited edition of 1000 individually numbered copies on translucent red coloured vinyl and includes in insert.

Al di Meola - Elegant Gypsy [VINYL LP] 180 Gram date 03/05/2013

Double 180gm vinyl LP pressing in gatefold jacket. World Sinfonia - Heart of the Immigrants (1993) is Al di Meola's second entry of his World Sinfonia project. The studio album, his 15th overall, is considered an energetic and vital tribute to Tango master Astor Piazzolla. Recorded on all-acoustic instrumentation, the music oozes the flavour and spirit of Argentina - not least because of the influence of Dino Saluzzi, who enriches this record with the wonderful sounds of his bandoneon. Songs such as 'Someday My Prince Will Come' shine with the rich instrumentation, occasionally backed by a string section or the soulful voice of Hernan Romero and make InchWorld Sinfonia - Heart of the ImmigrantsInch an Al di Meola album that should not be missing from the collections of any fan of Jazz infused with World Music and Tango.

Al Di Meola - One Of These Nights - Al Di Meola - One Of These Nights Right from the start and with an almost imperceptible smile Al Di Meola deftly conjured up the most amazing runs and gorgeous melodies. Concentration rather than tension, and devotion rather than routine are tangible in his playing. Masterful virtuosity combined with perfect feeling for emotions. Al Di Meola assembled a thoroughly excellent group of musicians for this review of the highlights of a career spanning almost three decades - a fantastic combination of romantic chamber music, traditional Latin American music and the freedom of jazz, constantly switching between off-thecuff improvisation and intricate set-pieces. Time and again the musicians manage to vary familiar pieces with surprising rhythm changes and brilliant soundscapes. Vinyl LP pressing.
