Alabaster Deplume - Gold - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

GOLD, the follow-up to Alabaster Deplume's widely-acclaimed, 2020-released cinematic instrumental LP To Cy & Lee Instrumentals Vol. 1, introduces the world to the artist's truest self. That is... though DePlume's now known across the globe as the saxophonist who created that collection of wonderful, wordless music, he's most known to fervent fans in his home zone of London, UK, as an outspoken poet and orator, beloved for his inspiring words of encouragement and sing-a-long-able songs about vulnerability, humanity, and courage.1 A Gente Acaba (Vento Em Rosa)2 Don't Forget You're Precious3 Fucking Let Them4 The World Is Mine5 The Sound Of My Feet On This Earth Is A Song To Your Spirit6 I'm Gonna Say Seven7 Do You Know A Human Being When You See One?8 Visitors YT15B - Jerusalem, Palestine9 I'm Good At Not Crying10 Now (Stars Are Lit)11 Again (feat. When we are boldly and sincerely requested as ourselves, as whoever we may be, we can, in response to one-another, create naturally, things that no-one could have ever specifically demanded we deliver. In order to record the compositions in his critically acclaimed 2022 GOLD, Alabaster instilled a culture of creativity by leading his ensembles in spontaneous composition and development. To allow them to be present, he kept them constantly creating. This resulted in an abundance of material that he has since produced and arranged, resulting in this collection. It is a piece made entirely of authentic, un-stipulated - yet welcomed - human interaction. It is similar to how elements in nature contribute to shared work and beauty without conscious motive - a bee's own motives result in the delivery of pollen. As Alabaster says himself, InchThe great thing wants to happen, let us allow it to happenInch On his first trip to the US Alabaster collected messages from individuals, to be delivered to the hearts of his audiences. One, who preferred to remain anonymous, encourages us to Inchcome with fierce graceInch Composed in the act of performance by and with Alabaster Deplume - tenor sax, guitar, synths and voice Falle Nioke - voice, percussion Rozi Plain - guitar Sarathy Korwar - drums, tabla Tom Skinner - drums Kenichi Iwasa - percussion James Howard - guitar Tom Herbert - double bass Natalie Pela - voice Rosa Slade - voice Elly Condron - voice Luisa Gerstein - voice Matt Webb - double bass Michael Chestnutt - synths Ursula Russell - drums Conrad Singh - guitar Hannah Miller - cello and voice Donna Thompson - voice Matthew Bourne - piano Momoko Gill - lead vocal Ruth Goller - bass

You heard it here first - it's the Gold Record we always knew Bill Callahan had in him! Last summer, he returned from a silence of years - now, he's raring to go with another new one already. The abiding humanity of latter-day Callahan is highlighted by dark plumes of caustic wit upending standards of our everyday life and the songs that celebrate it the job, the wife, the TV, the neighbors. Bill slips easily into his characters, whether they're easy people or not - and the cross-hatch of their light and shadow is unpredictably entertaining in the manner that belongs only one singer in this whole wide world we're still talking about Bill Callahan.
