About this product

Since his highly praised Carnegie Hall debut in New York City, the saxophonist Marco Albonetti has been engaged for performances and master-classes around the world. He has appeared at countless Italian theatres and numerous distinguished international venues, and his concert tours have taken him to Armenia, Belgium, Canada, China, Cyprus, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Italy, Portugal, South Africa, Spain, Switzerland, Taiwan, Turkey, and the United States. Albonetti first discovered the music of Piazzolla on the day he died - 4th July 1992 - when RAI reported the news and broadcast his music. Albonetti's fascination for his music has persisted from that day forward. Traveling to Buenos Aires to research his doctoral dissertation, Albonetti had the privilege of examining the composer's original manuscript scores and interviewing people who had worked closely with Piazzolla his wife, Laura Escalada, his librettist Horacio Ferrer, and his fellow musicians Pablo Ziegler, Daniel Binelli, Jose Bragato, and Arturo Schneider. This album features his Albonetti's own arrangements for Saxophone and Chamber Orchestra, described by Piazzolla's as 'A splendid piece of work, impeccably executed, and a demonstration of great respect for the music of Maestro Piazzolla.'

Roma Tre Orchestra Bufalini - Il Sogno - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

This moving project is derived from the research that Delilah Sharon Iska Gutman carried out on the poetics and artistic path of Amedeo Modigliani, the Italian man with Jewish roots who collected the dream of Love. It is a tribute to Dedò (as the close friends of Modigliani called him) and to Jeanne Hèbuterne, his inspirer and life partner. Entitled The Dream, the work is a sort of imaginary theater, conceived and realized on the libretto Jeanne e Dedò by Manrico Murzi, and it is for 'voice of memory' for soprano, electronics and piano. From this description, we unwrap the poetic foundation of this work surrounding both the 'dreamlike' moments and reminiscent moments. The story is narrated and commented on by the voices whose song intertwine with an articulated piano part, while the electronics have the task of giving the tint, as Giuseppe Verdi would have said, thus creating the setting for the imaginary scenes. A high, very intense participatory emotional climate is shaped out.

Orchestra Sinfonica di Roma - Architetture Contrappunti Marinesca E Baccanale - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Architetture ('Architectures'), a concerto for orchestra in seven linked sections, was the piece that catapulted the Italian composer Giorgio Federico Ghedini to fame in his home country at the late age of 48. On this disc it is coupled with two more of his fi nest orchestral works. The powerful atmosphere and stunning orchestral effects of Marinaresca e baccanale ('Sea Piece and Bacchanale'), written several years earlier, prove that Ghedini's belated recognition was fully deserved. Contrappunti ('Counterpoints'), which Ghedini composed much later in life, fi nds him responding to the inspiration of one of his lifelong musical heroes, Beethoven.

Soro / Sinfonica / Dominguez - Sinfonia Romantica - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Enrique Soro rose to great esteem not only as Chile's leading composer but as a distinguished pianist, conductor and teacher. The Sinfonia romantica was the first symphony to be composed in Chile and remains the most important example of the genre in the country's musical history. Soro's melodic distinction, mastery of orchestration and his sense of form are equally distinguished. The Tres aires chilenos espouse a kind of nationalism, fusing Chilean folk music, specifically the tonada, with the European classical tradition. The rousing Danza fantastica is a perfect concert opener.
