Alex Norris has been one of the most sought-after elite trumpeters for the past three decades on NY scene. Norris received a Master's degree from the Manhattan School of Music and a Doctor's degree from the Univ. Of Miami Frost School of Music. He has kept busy schedule performing principal post in renowned large and small ensembles all over the world. Despite his impressive achievement Alex Norris' leader albums are scarce. This is his fourth album and the second for SteepleChase. Norris forms a time-tested yet distinctive trumpet trio with some contemporary twists superbly collaborated by Paul Bollenbach on guitar and Paul Gill on bass. Inch.Norris writes and plays with rare assurance and seldom walks on overly familiar paths.. he's not an aggressive stylist and his penchant for thoughtful dynamics gives him the confidence to leave space and unexpected intervals in his solos.Inch (The Penguin Guide to Jazz on CD)

On the album 'Faux Animaux', Blue Violet continue their exploration of rich electronic avenues inspired by Calvi, St Vincent, Radiohead, Bowie, recent Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Twin Peaks. With their songwriting as sublime as ever, they've become one of the most enthralling underground propositions of the age. Recorded in Bristol's J&J studios with Bat For Lashes and Hannah Peel mixer / producer TJ Allen, 'Faux Animaux' is a unified and sophisticated update of modern British alt-pop, drifting from sizzling space disco to stunning, swirling cinematic vistas. Blue Violet returned to the stage in March - when they also shared one off single 'Human After All' - to join The Gaslight Anthem during various shows at London's Roundhouse, but as the duo have shown festival crowds this summer, 'Faux Animaux' is set to usher in their own glory days. It's a stunning amalgam of modernism and melody that spotlights not just humankind's failings and fakery but it's leaders' too. InchThe fake animals could be seen as the powers that be, leading us down paths that result in us ignoring our more natural instincts, often making decisions without our permission,Inch says Sam. Quietly, a beast awakens.
