About this product
2023 . Like fine Red Wine, Soulboy Alexis Evans gets better with age. The best evidence of this is Yours Truly. This third studio album by Bordeaux-based singer-songwriter Alexis Evans and sees the light 4 years after his previous LP I've Come A Long Way, defined InchSoul album of The YearInch by Rolling Stone France. Yours Truly consists of 12 brilliantly soulful cuts that take direct inspiration from 60's & 70's classic soul music adding a sound that is firmly rooted in the new millennium. The album was recorded between Bordeaux and Nantes during 2021 and beginning of 2022. The idea behind the new album was to find a unique sound, mixing classic 60's & 70's soul music with more contemporary influences such as hip hop beats, jazz, reggae, and Caribbean sounds. To do that, Alexis paired up with producer Louis-Marin Renaud, known for his work with French-English singer, actress and model Lou Doillon and country-soul rising star Theo Lawrence, who took part in the arrangements and mixed the album.

2019 . From Bordeaux rolls in Alexis Evans, the next big thing of the French deep soul scene. Following his acclaimed debut LP Girl Bait (2016), Record Kicks is proud to present I've Come A Long Way, the 2019 installment of the Anglo/French artist. Recorded in Bordeaux, mixed by Nate Goldentone. With this album, Alexis Evans is ready to impress with one of the most original and honest deep soul and rhythm and blues album.
At the Moonbase, the fourth full-length album from Slaughter Beach, Dog, is a return to form for Philadelphia bandleader Jake Ewald. Written and recorded alone at home and at The Metal Shop, Ewald's East Kensington recording studio, the album tracks an exercise in solitary production not unlike Slaughter Beach, Dog's 2016 debut Welcome or 2017's Motorcycle. JPG. On the heels of 2019's Safe and Also No Fear, Ewald's latest offering brings expanded arrangements and sharpened storytelling as he taps into salad days over slacker rock (InchDo You UnderstandInch), the dark grooves of seedy city life (InchSong for OscarsInch), and even a barroom-piano-driven Inchescapade through the great American bedroomInch (InchA Modern LayInch). At the Moonbase arrives March 26th on Lame-O Records.
