Everything flows, nothing ever stays the same. The same can be said about the third studio album of the fast-rising Dutch rock band DOOL. Aptly entitled InchThe Shape of FluidityInch there is not just musical innovation but the full-length revolves around themes of personal change, physical change, psychological change, and the ever-changing world around us. DOOL and particularly singer and guitarist Raven van Dorst ask questions How does change affect us? How do we keep being ourselves in a world that is so incredibly demanding and aggressive towards the individual? We must be as fluid as water to navigate ourselves through this ocean of possibilities and uncertainties - and make peace with chaos and impermanence. Musically, DOOL continue on the path laid out on the two previous studio recordings of heartfelt rock music with added metal elements, while displaying a maturity and focus in songwriting that has grown out of experience. InchThe Shape of FluidityInch exhibits an eclectic yet seamless amalgamation of progressive and post-rock as well as doom and heavy metal in combination with an inherent catchiness and a dynamic backdrop. It is hardly surprising that the theme of the album that pitches the concept of identity against the backdrop of a world in constant flux connects the album's lyrics to the biography of lead vocalist Raven. Born intersex, doctors at the time assumed that they could surgically determine which kind of life the infant should lead and decided that the child should be a girl. This has led to a life full of soul searching, fighting taboos and breaking boundaries, until recently Raven decided to reclaim that which others have tried so hard to take away from them, and finally embrace their hermaphroditic nature. The band derived the name DOOL from the Dutch word for 'wandering'. When their debut album InchHere Now, There ThenInch was released in

'Radiosoul', Alfie Templeman's second studio album, is an ambitious suite of tracks that showcase a bold new acid-pop direction for the Bedfordshire-born polymath. The record features production from Templeman as well as Nile Rodgers, Dan Carey, Karma Kid, Oscar Scheller, Will Bloomfield, Justin Young, Josh Scarbrow and Charlie J Perry. It is an album of self-discovery, one that zips between genres at whim and showcases a newfound incisiveness and acerbic humour to Templeman's lyricism, whilst retaining the sense of joy that defined his previous releases. It is the work of a prodigiously talented songwriter truly coming into his own.

Public Image Ltd. - Album (Rhino Reserve Series 180-gram Vinyl) - VINYL LP / Rather than record with his touring band, Public Image Ltd frontman John Lydon (a.k.a. Johnny Rotten of the S*x Pistols) recruited an all-star line-up including guitarist Steve Vai, keyboardist Ryuichi Sakamoto, drummer Ginger Baker and bassist Bill Laswell (who co-produced the collection). InchI make records for myself. I want them to be completely precise,Inch noted Lydon of the 1986 set, which sounds as fiery as ever despite the seasoned session players. Highlights include opener InchFFF,Inch InchHomeInch and InchRise,Inch which became one of PiL's most successful singles. An unusually accessible set (it reached the U.K. Top 20), Album remains an excellent point-of-entry to one of the 1980s' most challenging groups. All analog reissue on 1LP as a part of the Rhino Reserve series.
