Allen Toussaint - Allen Toussaint Collection - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Japanese pressing features 2015 remastering. Warner. 2015.

This CD restores to catalogue Toussaint's second album the first that he released under his own name titled originally InchToussaintInch, then renamed InchFrom a Whisper to a ScreamInch, augmented with the A and B-sides of three Bell 45s from 1968 and 1969. Five of these have never been reissued in 35+ years. Originally released on vinyl on Scepter Records in 1970, New Orleans' eminent musical genius's solo LP was largely overlooked at the time but is nowadays considered to be a real masterpiece of Crescent City Soul.

2022 . Night Shop is the solo project of Justin Sullivan (Babies, Worriers, Kevin Morby's band, Flat Worms). Justin co-produced the album with Jarvis Taveniere and the band on this record includes Hand Habits' Meg Duffy on bass (they both played in Morby's band), Evan Weiss (Slang Chickens, Sparks) on guitar and Tiffanie Lanmon (Jess Williamson) on drums. InchThis is a special album to me because I feel it's the closest I've gotten to expressing things exactly how I would want to,Inch Justin tells us, Inchbut it is also merely part of the continued joy of making music with my friends. If we're still here, after all these years, then we're very, very lucky. So let's enjoy it and let's do it to honor those who couldn't make it to this day, for whatever reason. Let's not take it for granted.Inch
