About this product
2009 from German singer/songwriter Dirk Homuth AKA Almost Charlie. The Plural of Yes reveals Homuth to be a connoisseur of timeless Pop craftsmanship distilling the heady years of AM-radio splendor, from Bacharach to the Beatles, into 13 addicting Indie-Pop coated pills. The chilling strings that escort the coda of the album's deceptively dark opening track, 'Everyone Deserves to Love', gently foreshadow Almost Charlie's love affair with smart, sweeping orchestration. This orchestration is put on full display in the subsequent piano-led track, 'Love Condensed', an elegant 3/4-metered ballad that deftly demonstrates the warmth and charm of Homuth's voice.

Digitally remastered edition. Words On Music presents a reissue and the first record tag of Almost Charlie's Loving Counterclockwise, the debut album by Berlin-based singer / multi-instrumentalist Dirk Homuth and New York City lyricist Charlie Mason. The album was originally self-released in 2006 and, after hearing the record, Words On Music signed Almost Charlie and released it's subsequent three albums to great critical acclaim The Plural of Yes (2009), Tomorrow's Yesterday (2012), and A Different Kind of Here (2017). Loving Counterclockwise has been remastered and fits cozily with the band's entire catalog, replete with nimble acoustic melodies, touching strings, and Homuth s poised but empathetic voice.

2017 . Berlin singer/multi-instrumentalist Dirk Homuth and New York City lyricist Charlie Mason have teamed up to pen A Different Kind of Here, Almost Charlie's fourth album and the band's third record for the Minneapolis-based Words On Music tag. With 12 new songs brimming with impossibly elegant hooks, poignant imagery, and enduring melodies that flirt with The Beatles and Simon & Garfunkel, A Different Kind of Here is infused with an unmistakable flair and cohesiveness that belies the fact that this uniquely 21st Century transatlantic songwriting team have never met. Homuth's unfailing affinity for tunefulness seamlessly blends the album's assortment of sonic textures, from the carnivalesque Sgt. Peppers-meets-Westworld imaginings of InchRobotInch to the gentle, piano-guided interlude InchSunset On Elysian FieldsInch that evokes mid-period Felt. Duskier undercurrents percolate through the record, such as in InchThe Loneliness of SharksInch - one of several compositions that begin deceptively spare but blossom into orchestral-laden gems, making A Different Kind of Here another sophisticated, chamber pop masterpiece from this transatlantic songwriting duo.
