About this product
As the highlight of the Bruckner Year 2024, Anton Bruckner's Symphony No. 9 was performed by the Altomonte Orchestra St. Florian under Rémy Ballot on the occasion of the Brucknertage St. Florian. The special feature of this evening was the presentation of the recovered sketches from the Finale, which were played in their rough-draft form and without special arrangement. Work on the Finale was already far advanced at the time of Bruckner's death on October 11, 1886; among the fragments are, among other things, the beginning of the movement, the first, second and third main themes, parts of a development section, and the aforementioned three themes in the recapitulation-partly as a short-score sketch, partly as completely orchestrated passages. Performing these fragments allows one only to imagine what monument Anton Bruckner would have erected once again with the Finale of his Ninth Symphony. This memorable evening can now be experienced by the music world.

The 2023 edition of Brucknertage Festival St. Florian was presenting a very rare specialty Remy Ballot and the Altomonte Orchestra St. Florian's premiere performance of the critical new edition of Anton Bruckners Symphony in D minor, WAB 100, InchThe NullifiedInch (formerly known as InchDie NullteInch or InchNo. 0Inch) by David Chapman. Contrary to what one might induce it is by no means a symphonic debut by Bruckner, but has been composed in 1869 after his first symphony, designated to be symphony no. 2. Many parts of the composition are radically new and already herald the revolutionary compositional models of the later Bruckner. The so-called InchFirst ThemeInch alone, as later in the introductions to the IIIrd and IXth Symphonies, does not form a developed theme, but only sound surfaces, prompting the understandable, but disastrous question by conductor Felix Otto Dessoff of the Vienna Philharmonic InchWell, where is the main theme there?Inch This single criticism was enough for the sensitive 45-year-old to InchannulInch the work, adding the number Inch0Inch to the autograph and disregarding it for the rest of his life... It was not until 1924 that this magnificent D minor symphony, which was certainly unjustly banned from his catalog of works, was finally premiered in Klosterneuburg.
