This program brings together a wide variety of Alan Hovhaness' works including numerous world premiere recordings. These range from the earliest of his band compositions, the processional 'Tapor No. 1,' to more recent chamber pieces such as the gentle barcarole of 'Vision on a Starry Night. The Ruins of Ani' returns us to the tragic location also explored in Hovhaness Symphony No. 23 Ani', while the 'Three Improvisations on Folk Tunes' evoke dances from the Indian subcontinent. Newly discovered works with percussion include the Japanese-influenced overture to Hovhaness' opera 'The Burning House' alongside 'October Mountain,' now a classic in it's genre.

Quietly and without fuss, Andrew Paine has established himself as one of the UK underground's most progressive thinkers and most diverse operators, his modes ranging from solo voice, through layered howling guitars, gentle piano interludes, oblique electronics and wherever he likes in between. He initially broke cover collaborating with Richard Youngs in their progressive rock group project Ilk. Following their second album Canticle (2005), he became particularly prolific, releasing many collaborative titles both with Youngs and with fellow Glasgow resident Caroline McKenzie as well as several solo titles. He founded his own Sonic Oyster Records in 2006 to much of his work and co-founded the progressive kraut-rock power trio, Space Weather. Current duties extend to bass guitar with punk trio The Flexibles, one half of theosophical thinkers The Blue Tree, with long-time collaborator, Matthew Shaw, and co-founder of Turds of the Reformation. Sky Movers Must Fight On is his first for Glass Redux. It's short-sharp futuristic bursts capture Paine monologuing to the electronic horizon. Dada with beats. Mixed by Reuben Bough.
