Andrea Centazzo - Octagonal Music - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Some years ago Andrea Centazzo was invited by long time friend trombonist Giancarlo Schiaffini to play in a trio with vibraphonist Sergi Armaroli. The trio, named InchTrisaghionInch, recorded a CD in 2017 followed by occasional concerts. In June 2919 while in Berlin to present InchThe SeerInch, one of his multimedia solos, AC was approached by Harri SjInchstrInchm for a trio gig with bassist Matthias Bauer. The music went very well. This led to the next natural step to add Harri to the trio and form the quartet on this CD. The title comes from the tracks organized in a way that a player starts improvising and the others join one by one until the cycle or InchorbitInch is completed. The quartet is a solid combination of 2 percussion sets, including AC electronics and 2 wind players covering a wide range of sounds. At this point the methodology of free improvisation has become an international language and this quartet speaks the language fluently. Welcome to InchOrbitsInch

Sometime an old box of tapes, overlooked for decades, could reserve nice surprises. This album is a collection of those surprises. In the years of my collaboration with Steve Lacy, we did a lot of recording and we selected what was the best for the short length of the vinyl LPs. So some tracks were edited leaving part of the improvisations out or discarded for a similarity with something already included in the albums. Album Tracks 1. Scraps #1 2. Scraps #2 3. Scraps #3 4. Back in March 2020, when Covid was taking over the world, we quietly released InchThe JourneyInch by Perry Robinson and Andrea Centazzo. We dedicated it to the free spirit clarinetist who journeyed away to the stars on December 2, 2018. Perry Robinson was a musician that since the 60s has been considered a staple of the NY avant-garde scene. Not only he also had more traditional collaboration with musicians like the Brubeck's, Tony Scott and many other. He was one of the columns of the Charlie Haden Liberation Orchestra, a sideman with Don Cherry, Gato Barbieri, John Fisher. During the pandemic lockdown, Andrea rediscovered his duo concert with Perry at The Taoist Sanctuary, which took place on May 29, 2015, the night before InchThe JourneyInch session. Peter Kuhn, who also performed with Perry that night with his trio, recorded the concert. I was there, too, and mesmerized. Now hope you can also join us to experience the stream of spontaneity and inner flames. Nobu Stowe (producer) April 25, 2021 Album Tracks 1. Taoist Concert No. 1 2. Taoist Concert No. 2 3.
