Angelina Mango - Poke Melodrama - Pictue Disc - VINYL LP

Nkrumah Jah Thomas is one of the great Deejay voices of Jamaican music. Through his Midnight Rock tag, he is also known as a formidable producer - making important records with the likes of Anthony Johnson, Early B, King Tubby and Super Cat. His 80s dancehall hit with the latter, InchDance Inna New YorkInch, was sampled on the hit single by Nas, InchThe DonInch, and in recent years, his rhythms have been sampled by Protoje and Kabaka Pyramid. Acid Jazz group tag Roots Records has worked with Jah Thomas since the late 1990s, and is set to the first ever collection of his vocal work. A versatile and nimble word-smith, The Music Maker from Jamaica is represented by 12 of his most vital cuts. These include his debut hit InchMidnight RockInch, hits such as InchDance Hall ConnectionInch and InchDance On The CornerInch, his own versions of InchCool ProfileInch and InchJoker SmokerInch (hits he produced for Earl Cunningham, and Tristan Palmer respectively.) Tracks are newly remastered and the package includes sleeve notes by reggae historian Tony Rounce - a must-have for classic Dub and Dance Hall enthusiasts.

Vinyl LP repressing. Frank Zappa's highest-charting album, APOSTROPHE(!), gets renewed treatment for it's vinyl reissue. The eleven song package, which includes Zappa classics such as 'Don't Eat the Yellow Snow' (his first charted single) and 'Cosmic Debris,' featured an all-star recording band interpreting the maestro's exotic compositions and their topical yet comical lyrics. Among them who joined Zappa (who played guitar, bass and sang lead vocals) were Jack Bruce (of Cream), violinist Jon-Luc Ponty, the late George Duke (an early Zappa collaborator), drummers Jim Gordon (Derek & the Dominos) and Aynsley Dunbar (ex-Jeff Beck Group).
