Political Journalist isn't a credential usually in musician's bios, but this is exactly what Anika was doing while living between Berlin and Bristol earlier this year when she met Geoff Barrow. The producer was looking for a new singer to work with his band Beak , and it was immediately clear they shared the same musical vision, including a love of punk, dub and 60s girl groups. Just a week later Anika and Beak (Barrow, Billy Fuller and Matt Williams) went into the studio to begin recording material. The resulting album was recorded in twelve days, live, with the four together in one room. Dub with no overdubs. The collaboration is political, trashy, dub, punk, funk... a cohesive sound, and experience in uneasy listening. In the tradition of short lived but deeply influential 99 Records and the NYC's 80s No Wave nexus, the nine songs on Anika run the gamut from experimental rock (InchYang YangInch, InchOfficer OfficerInch) to covers of folk (InchMasters of WarInch) and pop songs (InchTerryInch, InchI Go to SleepInch), while showcasing reverb-drenched ancient drum machine rhythms. Double vinyl LP pressing including digital download. Under the Table and Dreaming is the debut studio album from the Dave Matthews Band, released on September 27, 1994. By March 16, 2000, the album had sold six million copies, and was certified six × platinum by the RIA. The acoustic guitar tracks on the album were played by Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds. During the recording sessions, Matthews and Reynolds would sit face-to-face with a piece of glass between them, playing the same guitar part. This was done twice for each song, resulting in four acoustic guitar tracks (two from Matthews, two from Reynolds) all playing the same part on each song. Producer Steve Lillywhite frequently turned the volume down on Matthews' parts and turned the volume up on Reynolds' parts, resulting in Reynolds' guitar playing being more prominent on the final album. Reynolds then overdubbed additional acoustic and electric guitar parts. The album was dedicated InchIn memory of AnneInch for Matthews' older sister Anne, who was killed by her husband in 1994 in a murder-suicide. SZNZ Autumn, the third part in Weezer's four-EP song cycle, continues the narrative started on SZNZ Spring and SZNZ Summer bringing Pagan myths, Shakespeare, Catholic rituals, Vivaldi's Four Seasons, and more to life. Each SZNZ EP offers it's own palette of colors, creatures, and emotions to explore. They're also being created in real time, made in tandem with the season themselves.
