Anja Kampe - Lieder & Romances - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Anja Harteros - Von Ewiger Liebe [COMPACT DISCS] date 10/13/2009

Jean’s voice never sounded better and listening to her inject new life into the old classics, one thing became very apparent – these performances needed to be shared with Jean’s fans and the listening public at large. So, as it happened, a dozen perfectly crafted tracks that arose from these so called “warm-up” sessions became an album in their own right – and as an added bonus, also included are three duets that Jean recently recorded with former Temptations lead singer Glenn Leonard for his new album entitled “Then & Now.” As the amazing Jean Carne moves forward to record her first album of new material in over 15 years, we can all quell our eager anticipation with this stunning “Flashback.”

The contact with Gordon Kampe's music is like - guided by suggestive sound impressions - the perception of an imaginary theater. Titelgebungen, set headlines and section names of his works refer for example to the world of cinematic science fiction designs à la InchStar TrekInch and InchAlienInch. In other compositions, however, also quite different associations are conjured up. As Inchmetaphors machinesInch used, indicate such designations the uncertainties of a pre-determined course, whose music filled time holds unexpected and unforeseen. A central compositional characteristic is the sudden turn, which manifests itself as an unusual action or instrumental solo and thus defies the common musical affect.
