purchasing a refurbished phone can be risky. That is precisely why i decided to buy through best buy. I assumed that purchasing through best buy would offer some protections, or assurance against a faulty phone. i assumed that should a problem arise i would have a quick and pain free process in restoring the phone back to good. then we hit 3 weeks with the phone and it stopped working and after taking the phone into a near by store i found out a few things. first i learned that best buy recently started letting 3rd party vendors sell on their website and my phone was purchased through one of those third party vendors. second i learned that after just 2 weeks best buy will not issue a return for a third party sale. third i learned that apple would likely not support the third party phone because it received non apple parts in the refurbishment, forth i learned that best buy doesnt likely vet the products being sold by third parties. fifth i learned that i had to do all of the legwork to reach out to the third party to return the phone and get a refund (a situations which at almost 2 weeks after the initial failure is still not resolved). for these reasons i highly recommend against purchasing refurbished phones or electronics in general from best buy. they don't have your best interest at heart. after such a dismal failure maybe it is time for best buy to go the way of circuit city. i don't presume to think that my little comment will set this in motion but i don't have to set anything in motion best buy just has to keep moving in the direction they are going and soon all loyalty capital to the brand will be spent and there will cease to be a desire and need for such a failed store. you have lost my business. good luck holding on to the rest.
