Since the wifi router was in the living room, I had problems with internet connections, but now I get over 100mbps internet speed. For those who need LAN connection go for it.

I could not give it a good rating or a bad. Long story made short… not what I was looking for… was returned the next day. I would of course recommend this item to someone that needed it, alas, I did not.

The wifi on my Macbook Pro was always going in and out in my living room. For $30, this little little dongle not only eliminates my wifi headaches, but also gives me lightning fast speeds. Super simple to install. Just plug it into the Mac, then plug the Ethernet cord into your router. Connects to the internet right away. I wouldn't need this adapter if the Macbook had an Ethernet port built in, but that's an entirely different discussion. This adapter works as advertised.

I purchased this adapter because my MacBook Pro does not have an ethernet port to hardwire in to the Internet. I needed it to telecommute from home and my virtual office requires a faster hardwired connection over Wi-Fi, which can at times not be as consistent. The MacBook does however have a thunderbolt port, this adapter worked well to hardwire in through the Thunderbolt port and provided extremely fast and consistent signal to my MacBook Pro. A little bit pricey for an adapter, because it’s Apple of course, but definitely does the job!

It’s an Apple product! It just works! Plug and play! No need to fuss with wireless bandwidths cutting your download speeds in half or more... if you have a gigabit connection in your home, and want to use it with a MacBook, consider an option such as this!

Great buy. Fast connection and very reliable. Keep up the awesome work Apple.

I needed to hard wire my modem to the computer, and since I have a Mac, I needed an adaptor. This device couldn't have been any easier and there is no obvious difference in speed by removing the router.

The Apple Thunderbolt-to-Gigabit Ethernet Adapter works exactly like it should. Plug it in and you can use a hardwired connection verses using wifi. Great for when you need better speed than wifi can offer.

"WiFi is fine when it's fine." Yogi Berra probably didn't say that, but he should have. Whether it's for streaming a movie from Netflix in a hotel or transferring files as you sit in a corner of the office, a wired ethernet connection can make all the difference in the world. Most obvious was the difference in streaming a soccer game. With WiFi, the action paused regularly to buffer. With a wired connection, the action proceeded smoothly. Since many of the Apple laptops have no dedicated ethernet port built in, you need an adapter to make a wired connection. The choices are "USB to Ethernet" or "Thunderbolt to Ethernet." Only the Thunderbolt adapter supports gigabit ethernet. Lots of companies make USB adapters, but most are poorly reviewed. Genuine Apple accessories cost more, but they work.

The only thing I could say negative is perhaps apple should design it so that it's a little bit smaller. It kind of protrudes from the side of your laptop. Other than that, I get great speed out of it and no issues.

This is a great product. I have 1 GB download speed internet service, but I was getting all I was paying for by just using wifi. After using this to wire my internet connection, I gained about 300Mbps making my speed much faster and more reliable as well...less buffering.

It works exactly as it should. Easy to connect and small enough to fit in your bag without taking up too much room.

I bought this product to record Google Hangouts On Air on my Mac Book Pro which requires a wired (not wireless) connection for smooth quality. It works great. However, this is a product meant to be used mostly with Apple laptops. If you put the laptop on your lap the dongle that comes out is just long enough to hook on the edge of whatever pants you are wearing. The dongle length either needs to be much shorter and less costly or it needs to be longer so that it does not catch on your pant leg if you are sitting down with your laptop. The designers failed to keep in mind that laptops are, in fact, often used on LAPS. A big mistake in my opinion since the catching on my pants is rather annoying. It's an annoying design issue that I hope they will correct in the future. $30 is a bit much for this little thing despite the technology inside. All in all I would recommend it if you absolutely need a Thunderbolt to Ethernet plugin for your internet connection to improve, your speed and quality of connection.

I bought this thinking it would help me link my MacBook and Mac Mini which it does, but not quite in the way I envisioned. Which is no reflection on the product, just my lack of knowledge with setting up a home network. The product is great, it combines Ethernet with thunderbolt allowing you to connect devices that don't offer a thunderbolt connection. How I used it: I was saving a [large media] file from my MacBook Pro to an external hard drive connected to a Mac Mini in a different room. Wirelessly, it was going to take two hours to complete, so I walked into the other room connected the Mac mini to my MBP with this adapter and the download was done in minutes. I know I could have connected thunderbolt to thunderbolt, but I don't own one of those cables because I don't have many devices that offer a thunderbolt connection while in contrast, just about everything offers Ethernet so I figured I'd get more use and versatility with this Adapter.

Apple and other sites need to do a better job at distinguishing between Thunderbolt vs Thunderbolt 3.0 (USB-C). What I needed was USB-C and bought this one inadvertently. Normally I don't order online and pickup, but due to COVID-19 I did and the description/picture make it confusing. Having said all this, I do have a 2016 Macbook with the original Thunderbolt and this works great for that model.
