Free-thinking Nova Scotia composer, musician and visual artist Jay Crocker (aka JOYFULTALK) channels Minimalism, Japanese environmental music, Maghrebian rhythmic modes and other numinous folkways to create his most focused, vibrant work to date. Based on a monumental, kaleidoscopic graphic score, A Separation Of Being is translated from two-dimensional page to trans-dimensional aural life using an array of homemade instruments, crowned with a majestic string arrangement written by Crocker and performed by Polaris and Juno winner Jesse Zubot (Tanya Tagaq, Destroyer). Visual scores often provoke ideas of openness, interpretation, improv and fluidity. JOYFULTALK's third album, and second for Constellation, is an altogether different beast. This three-part suite is airtight; interlocking arcs of polyrhythmic deep groove and new minimalism roll out in spellbinding propulsion, the music gathering it's warmth from the strings and it's peculiarities from Crocker's bespoke instrumentation and analog clockworks. The separation of being here is not division or rupture, but buoyant freedom through conduction of circulatory energies, marked by flowing melodic rondos of gyrating strings and sonic pointillism. Victim of your Father's Agony is the fifth album from Trondheim's finest prog band Arabs in Aspic. Originally released by the Italian tag Black Widow Records in 2015, this album may be their most diverse to date, due to the large number of songwriters compared to the other records. This new version of the album starts with a short instrumental inspired by the band's first concert in France, playing a gig in the sunset, 300 meters from the most beautiful beaches of the Atlantic with 2000 ecstatic prog nerds.«One», is an oldie that didn't quite fit in on the previous couple of albums, and has been a staple in their live shows since 2009. InchItalian ClassInch started as an instumental called InchThe Turk and the Italian RestaurantInch. With no proper Italian vocabulary, they cobbled together bits and pieces from the most known Italian nursery rhymes. The song was performed live at a festival to much-shared enthusiasm. Hailing from Trondheim in Norway, Arabs in Aspic has been mid-Norway's flagship of 70s inspired progressive rock and proto-hardrock for the past 15 years. They've been described as a sweet mixture of loud, heavy guitars and drums, 12 string acoustics, funky bass and percussion, screaming Hammond organs, soft Rhodes, Mellotrons and 70s Synths, topped with plentiful vocal harmonies.The bands first effort was the mini-album InchProgeriaInch, which was released in 2003 on CD only. In their humble start, the band can be described as a mixture of the psychedelic space rock akin to Hawkwind and the heaviness and darkness of early Black Sabbath. At the time of , they had done a lot of demos and were very active as a live band in the Trondheim area. Their rehearsal space was located at the club house of Hells Angels in Trondheim, which the police didn't like as several of the members was semi-pro ski jumping athletes, and sport and Hells Angels wasn't a good mix.1.
