Arp - Drifts - VINYL LP

Vinyl LP pressing. Includes digital download. Arp, a.k.a. Alexis Georgopoulos, makes his anticipated return to Mexican Summer with the second chapter in his Zebra trilogy. New Pleasures advances the narrative begun with 2018's acclaimed ZEBRA; pastoral in mood, expansive in style, the record acted as a dawn on a nascent, Edenic landscape, reminiscent of a beautiful, long-lost Fourth World album. Now, Arp drops us deep into the grid of the city. New Pleasures fast-forwards a few centuries, locating listeners in a post-industrial Sprawl (to borrow an expression from William Gibson's Neuromancer) of concrete and glass, imbuing the album with the flinty glow of commerce, the sleek rhythms of industrialization, and the cool finesse of brutalism. The result is a vivid, deconstructed take on high-definition pop, avant-garde, and dance music forms; a prismatic inquiry into machine sentience, the economy of desire, and myriad forms of possession. By turns imaginative, cheeky, and energetic, it's Arp's most experimental and yet most alluringly accessible work to date. Album Tracks 1. The Peripheral 2. New Pleasures 3. Preset Gloss 4. Sponge (For Miyake) 5. Eniko 6. I /O 7. Plaza 8. Le Palace 9. Trailor (Dub) 10. Embassy Disco 11. Cloud Storage

PRODUCED BY RENAUD LETANG + CHILLY GONZALES. RECORDED AT STUDIOS FERBER.This is the album of a lifetime. Or rather half a life spent, since the age of eighteen, in the shadow of recording studios. Under the multi-faceted pseudonym of DRIFT, AT THE PARTY is an album by one of the world's most renowned and sought-after French sound engineers and producers of the last three decades Renaud Letang. ManuChao, Chilly Gonzales, Feist, Mathieu Booagerts, Lianne La Havas, Philippe Katerine, Saul Williams, Jane Birkin, Seu Jorge, Micky Green, Connan Mockasin and Amadou & Mariam have regularly called on him, sometimes to the point of not being able to do without this producer with golden hands and rare hearing. For years now, Victoires de la Musique award-winner and Grammy Award-nominee Renaud Letang has been secretly preparing an album project with all his artist friends, in the basement of Studios Ferber. His Canadian accomplice Chilly Gonzales, with whom he formed the successful producer tandem VV in the 2000s, has encouraged him to his songs, which he composes in the dark between two recording or mixing sessions. Renaud Letang sees his compositions as Inchdrift musicInch, with a wide stylistic palette - from sunny disco pop (At the Party, Working on Me) to naive jazz (Papaya, A Night in Waimea), from futuristic hip hop (Cosmic Drift, That's All) to dreamlike tracks (Très Gentiment In Waimea). The word DRIFT, the multi-faceted alias chosen by Renaud Letang, describes precisely this perpetual movement, which wonderfully spills over into this collegial record, open to all vocal marriages Feist, Chilly Gonzales, Connan Mockasin, Benny Sing
