Four Stars for Set Up Five Stars for Operation Five Stars for Tech Support A recent upgrade by Comcast made my old router/modem obsolete overnight. Rather than renting Comcast equipment I opted to buy one compatible with their system and on the approved list. Set up was pretty easy but accessing the router was a bit of a challenge. The instructions were not very clear and the issue I was having required a call to their tech support. I am pretty tech savvy so I had no issue with tech support and followed their direction to access the modem to complete set up. The unit performs as designed and works very well. Great range and it delivers the speeds needed for the Comcast Service I have. Not really what I would call a plug and play in the true sense. However if you are pretty good with this type of equipment or have a friend or relative who is I highly recommend his unit. I also would like to note that their tech support was very well versed in providing a precise solution to my issue. But on the other hand the instructions and/or their website could have listed a little more info on troubleshooting set up to eliminate having to even call.

I have used NETGEAR Cable Routers for many many years but was never really happy with the range of its wifi. So when our lastest Router needed to be replaced, I decided to go with this ARRIS Router after reading many many reviews and talking to the salesperson at Best Buy. When I finally got it up and going, I was immediately impressed not just at the increase in my download speed (it went up 3 fold) but the wifi range is just freaking amazing. My router sits in the living on the backside of my house and my RING Garage Camera connected with NO issues just from the Router directly. That is over 100 feet between them with many rooms and walls. With my old NETGEAR Routers I ALWAYS had to use a wifi extender. Not this time!!! In total i have 28 devices connected via wifi and all devices have a strong connection. I am an ARRIS Fan for life now. I will highly recommend this router!!! To give you an example my Internet plan is 500mb. On my my xbox I could never get more than 250mb (hard wired) well now after purchasing the ARRIS Router, i now get 399mb on my Xbox…WOW just Wow. You need to get an ARRIS Router!!!’

I highly recommend this modem/router combo. Its very easy to setup, impressive speed, and reasonable price. It was a bit expensive, but you definitely get what you paid for. This DOCSIS 3.1 modem can handle up to 2.5 Gbps broadband speeds. It’s cute, compact, and supports two static IP addresses3.

Great for those whose ISP has upgraded their internet speed. To get those speeds however, a Docsis 3.1 Modem/Router is needed. A Docsis 3.0 router will still work but won't allow for today's faster gigabit speeds. The Arris Surfboard Model SBG8300 Cable Modem and Router in one fits the bill. Has four ethernet ports for multiple connections and one coaxial cable input. No telephone line connection for services requiring this. All in all a decent upgrade.

I was skeptical to purchase the 8300 based on the reviews, most stating perpetually dropped wifi problems. Purchased, (to upgrade to "GIG") Connected coax cable then power, logged in, called (COX) ISP to set up, chose the same wifi names and passwords for 2.4 and 5ghz, booted PC, my printer immediately connected. Wow this is easy! Not so fast.... other wifi devices were not connected (including smart plugs, thermostat, wifi extenders, Ring etc.) Restarted modem a few times using the ISP interface, tried to connect smart devices and wifi kept dropping and I had a sinking feeling that I made a bad purchase. I took a break (about 2 hours in) then decided to uplug and reconnect the 8300, disconnected the power source from smart devices and reconnected them and BAM! most connected and no more wifi dropping. had to delete and reinstall a few others. I'll update if anything changes, but as of day 2, I am completely satisfied. As far as the time I spent, I wish it were more of a PNP experience, but I used the opportunity to explore and learn a few things about the 8300. I love the new interface btw. Unrelated, I wish I could hide unused (neighbors) wifi SSID's.

Excellent replacement for the rip off that is the rental fee for the Xfinity X1 modem. This thing is super simple to set up and super fast. I have zero complaints

I don't have a choice where I live. I have to have Cox cable but there cable/modems are trash. I lost so much time going in and out of their offices to get them replaced. This one works and it has been paying for itself in the time not wasted commiserating with other Cox customers in line. One day a better choice will be available here and I'll bye Felicia Cox Cable, but I think I'll bring this modem/router with me! See those glorious green lights! It's working, baby! Only trouble I had was installing it due to Cox, having to their part. Sigh.

This product works well for what it is. These all in ones are always a little weaker on the signal, but this one works fine in my 2 story home. It is docsis 3.1 so it is able to handle 1+gbps signals. Multiple ethernet ports are a great touch overall I’m satisfied with the product.

I'm not a big tech guy so I thought the product was a bit overpriced. I do see improvement in the speed of my devices but there still is a bit of a lag but that could just be the area that I'm in. All in all I'm satisfied with the product.

For the love of your sanity, do NOT follow the directions to set this up. After plugging everything in, do NOT download the yellow ARRIS app. It doesn’t work. You have to download the blue SURFboard Central app. It took me hours to figure this out. Once I got it installed correctly, it works fine.

Works great with Xfinity in NH, just be sure to set up the default setting to the 5G network {SBG8300-A779-5G}. Wi-Fi went from about 40Mbps on the non-5G setting to over 300Mbps. Awesome!

I've owned this modem for 2+ years, bought in person from a BB store. It was mostly a waste of money for me... To start, all the features and settings on this thing work as intended, speeds are fine while everything IS normal for me, and I hadn't had better wifi coverage in my small condo before. But my issue is this thing doesn't always behave. Let me start by saying the in-game packet loss issue may or may not be directly tied to this modem. I am still experimenting with a brand new modem and my specific problem-game (BFV) to find out for sure. If they let me edit this review I will check back in a couple of months to edit in whether or not the new modem fixed this issue for me. The mystery rebooting problem however, seems to be directly an issue with only this modem. I found numerous reviews and forum posts online of users with this model of modem having similar issues. Some people reported low power coming into their units from ISP and hoping it was an ISP issue. Some people reporting new modems (or even old ones!) fixing the issue. To be clear, my issue was: MY MODEM WAS REBOOTING ITSELF ALMOST NIGHTLY. Probably on average 5 days a week. Mostly in prime time when I was trying to game and stream to others. Circling back to packet loss. The final straw was when my game became actually unplayable. I contacted my ISP, who said they ran a Docsis Health Check on my account/modem, and it reported back similar to other people online: bad (low?) signal coming into the unit. The representative just told me it came back "in the red", so I had bad incoming signal and that it was likely the modem. I don't know whether I believe them, as they quickly suggested renting theirs... you know how that goes. Regardless, this was now two separate issues that I was well enough tired of dealing with. The packet loss I had previously figured was the game's fault, as my speed tests always came back fine and other games had ZERO issue DURING the regular issue with the problem-game. The final straw was the last time it happened also tanked my entire internet speed. I dealt with it for two years to "get my money's worth" of saving rental fees, before giving up and buying a new non-Arris product. Now that I've had my new modem replacement I have been online for 7 days with no mystery reboots. It's almost weird now going from two years of internet cutting out from a modem resetting all by itself, to just how things are supposed to be. That issue alone makes this modem particularly not worth the money, especially at this price point. I've never once had even a cheap old modem or router or combo unit do this. This was supposed to be a heavy hitter product for me to last years. It only "lasted" two years because of my stubbornness. (Pic included is my purchase date. For some reason this page is claiming I only bought it a year ago, so there's my actual paper receipt.)

The interface for their app if very user friendly and it works like a charm. We weren’t getting the most out of our gigs with our old router so when we swapped to this one we got its full potential!

Great product for great price. It just replaced my ISP rented $15/month device (Modem + Router + WiFi extender).

I brought this modem Yesterday. Called cox to activated. It took me approximately 15 minutes to active. Boom, everything is up and running. Very easy to install & Apps is very easy to use. I only had it for day. So far, everything is running great. Hopefully, will not have any issue in the future.

Totally awesome before this purchase I had a xfinity modem/router I was getting between 300/400gbps and now I'm getting 600gbps wireless and ethernet connected between 850/915gbps with a gigabit package from xfinity.

Installed this new Arris combo cable modem and router as required by my internet server. Not sure if there is really any difference or enhanced performance between this new Arris modem router and the non-Arris modem router I replaced (which was over 7 years old and working well!). Setup was surprisingly challenging and required an on-site visit from the internet provider but that may be because they couldn’t figure out how to set it up remotely.
