Ashtanga Yoga Primary Series Led Practice with Mark Togni Ashtanga Yoga is an ancient practice which uses breath and movement connections (vinyasa) combined with gaze points (drishti) to purify and strengthen the body and the mind. Postures (asanas) are linked via the breath to create a meditative system which is strengthening, calming and grounding. This DVD was developed with the practitioner in mind. Mark follows the traditional vinyasa and breath counting system, and instructions are purposely kept to a minimum. This simplicity allows the practitioner to use it again and again, supporting the meditative aspect of the practice. It can also be used to create the feeling of being in a led class Mark Togni has been practicing and teaching Yoga for nearly 20 years. In addition to his studies in the Ashtanga Yoga system, he has studied Iyengar Yoga, has lived several years in India with his spiritual master, and is ordained as a Zen Buddhist monk. He is also a student of Ayurvedic medicine and Gestalt therapy. It is the combination of his experiences within these traditions together with a depth of practice in the series which make his unique approach to Ashtanga Yoga.
