a long game to reach 100% completion - 150 hours or so casually going through. the NE US looks great, quests are fun, well written game. combat gets repetitive and since this is the 3rd installment, if you have played the others then you have played this one really. the character sucks, there's no replayability. overall though, the story and scenes is what kept me into it.

This was purchased for my oldest son. I didn't realize how graphic it was until I watched him play it. My youngest wanted to play it and I told him no. It is ok for older kids, but not for young ones. The graphics are great for a video game and there is lots of action. It is a challenging game and keeps my son busy for hours trying to master different levels.

The newest installment in the 'Assassins Creed' games is both entertaining and gripping. The infamous parkour system was only improved with the addition of trees, and a slight control modification severely reduced your chances of screaming 'CONNER NOOOOO' at your television when your Assassin leaps off a cliff for no apparent reason. The setting and characters are both going to pull you in, especially if you have personal interest in some of the places and people that turn up. The game is packed full of fascinating historical information, which, for the most part, is entirely unchanged by the storyline. The naval missions are a notable exception to the historical accuracy that is the rule in the rest of the game, with your small ship handily taking on entire armada's on a regular basis. However, this reviewer finds it difficult to fault that, especially when those same missions were such an absurd amount of fun. I only hope that the next game will have more of an emphasis on accuracy in it's naval combat and ship design. The obvious downside to the game was Desmond Miles. Does anybody actually like him? Also, the 'main character', Conner, has a truly disappointing amount of character growth. It seems his entire personality was based off of a few events in his childhood and young adulthood, and locked in stasis, more or less, for the rest of his life. Back to more positive elements; I found the Homestead system to be one of my favorites in the game, doing each mission as soon as it was available. It was a notable pleasure to watch Davenport grow from a few ramshackle houses, a sunken ship, and a worn-out manor, to a small, bustling township. All in all, I recommend this game both to veteran Assassin's Creed players, and to people new to the franchise. It is a fantastic game with a beautiful setting. It can be punishing, especially if you're a completionist shooting for 100% sync in every mission, but it starts you off slow and introduces you to the gameplay mechanics in a very friendly manner. The overarching story, outside of the Animus, doesn't make much sense at the beginning, if you haven't played the older games, but it doesn't need to. It'll start to make more sense as the story progresses anyway. (Note: You will see I make no mention of the online multiplayer features. I have not yet tried them, as I am not a console multiplayer type. If you want a review of the MP features, you'll have to look elsewhere. ;-) )

This is one of the best game of 2012 great story, really cool characters, and lots to do. The ending feels rushed and has some programming bugs, and an unsatisfying ending. This is a full price game and is the best one in the series.

I'm a fan of the AC series and looked forward to the latest game. The game executes on the core mechanic of free-running and combat, but the simplification of the controls seemed largely unnecessary and did not provide any better control than the previous configurations. The game introduces a lot of new concepts and features, but fails to integrate them into the normal game play making them more or less superfluous. The characters and plot are great, I just wish they had spent a little more time on tweaking the blance and integrating the new features into the actual gameplay.

Great game. So much action. User friendly. Easy to navigate. I usually don't like playing games. But with this one I'm hooked.

I enjoy this game, both as an individual game and as a part of the Assassin's Creed series. The story is entertaining, the play is fun as well as a good challenge, and the achievements are a great way to monitor your progress as well as add another level of challenge. My husband loved the idea of the separate multiplayer disk, and it has fully met our expectations. The only things I can complain about are the level of difficulty of the games (ex: 9 man morris), the volume can be a little soft at times, and the lack of a gold membership seems to be a problem even with the co-op mode (which we have a ticket into uplay to figure out)

I've played all the assassin's creed games and this is by far the worst. I really want to like it. I can't count how many times I stopped playing due to the game not loading or my character falling into a building. I think the control scheme from ACII: Brotherhood was one of the better ones. They tried to make it fluid by making you hold one button to do everything. It works for some things but in the end, you end up doing things you don't want to. The new character is really cool and I like playing him. The story is also done superbly as in how it's interwoven with elements of American history. Some of the game feels like the developers just got lazy (i.e. copying the same models for buildings over and over) The underground mazes under the city just seem like something to make the game seem longer. If you are trying to get a 100% sync (completion) by completing optional objectives, you will run into some that are not necessarily difficult, but completely aggravating due to the weird AI of the NPCs. Enemies field of vision are very buggy. I am glad I bought this game on sale and would only recommend it for two reasons: 1) if you're a fan or 2) it's on sale.

This is a great follow up to the others in this series. I'm a little late getting on board with the series but great games so far. I have not completed this yet and I have been told the game is a little buggy but so far so good.

This is a fun game if you can get over the glitches. Lots of glitches throughout the game, shearing, checkpoints don't trigger sometimes. Hopefully a patch will come out soon to fix these issues. Primary character dialog seems a bit emotionless. The storyline puts a new spin on history, putting the Knights Templar behind some of the key points of the American Revolution.

I'm a history buff, so this game is very interesting as it ties history to game playing. I don't play a lot of games, in fact, about 3 total but this series never disappoints.

The best feature of the game is the story line and the way you play it in the past . But the graphics are good and the action of the game is non-stop. The way they changed the game from the regular setup by adding mini missions along the way as you play makes the game more fun.

An exciting chapter of the Assassin's Creed series, AC3 was particularly interesting to play due to its setting during the American Revolution. It has lots of things to do outside the main story, which can result in players getting side-tracked. The naval combat was so revolutionary that it resulted in its own game, Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag.
