2009 . Octuplex is split roughly in half between Harmonia/Voigt-style chuggers and sweeping swirls of instantly recognizable dronage, familiar to fans of Campbell's extensive contributions to Vibracathedral Orchestra, Sunroof! And others. His interest in Techno comes out on 'Caustic Roe' and 'Muscle Adductor', which neatly compile the influence of recent minimal jam innovations with piles of synth and effects noise, lending the beat-driven tracks a rough, unfussy style. The music that Chicago-based producer/composer Angel Marcloid makes under the new moniker Nonlocal Forecast distills her experimentation in the prog, jazz fusion, and new age disciplines into pristine instrumental compositions teeming with intricate harmonic structures and complex webs of programmed percussion. Orbiting as another satellite around her genre-obliterating flagship projects like Fire-Toolz and MindSpring Memories, Nonlocal Forecast centers Marcloid's practice on a palette of technical guitar and keyboard leads and atmospheric MIDI synth arrangements. For the project's debut album Bubble Universe!, Marcloid drew inspiration from her personal studies in quantum physics/mechanics and non-dual spirituality. These frameworks steer her toward a strain of micro/macrocosmic composition in which the granular unfurling of rhythms and melodic elements evoke the movement of celestial bodies as much as subatomic particles on the smallest scale.1) Celestial Nervous System2) Planck Lengths3) Cloud-Hidden4) The Direct Path5) Triangular (feat. After a stellar run of critically acclaimed releases that turned up in numerous top 5 and top 10 Beatport genre charts, and played by some of the world's biggest DJs, Abstrakt. Digital returns to Dissident Music with a solo belter, the lead single from his upcoming full-length album, Karmageddon. Winter Soulstice starts off with crisp percussions, percolating into a chugging bass pattern with glitched melodies and emotive progressions. Subliminal sounds circle around in the mix, coalescing with angelic pads and providing an uncommon sonic depth to the piece, conjuring the feeling of the year's darkest night, and yet releasing us into the light of an impending summer. This is a proper slice of perennial house music heaven handed down by the progressive gods, crafted by hand for your listening and dancing pleasure. This one is sure to summon the dancefloor muse, when she has once again been allowed free reign in our darkened rooms and outdoor stages. We are expecting big things for Winter Soulstice!
