I have had the older model of this very monitor for several years. The few things that I loved most about this particular series were the fact that it had VGA, DVI, HDMI and the built in speakers. On the older model, the built in speakers were my absolute feature of this particular series, but I am not here to review the older model, just to explain why I gave this monitor the 2 star rating that I did. Pros: Everything works well with the monitor. The size of the actual screen appears larger than it should due to the thin outer plastic edge. The buttons and require an light amount of pressure to make them work, which is good. There are 6 different preset settings (Night View Mode, sRGB, Scenery Mode, Standard Mode, Theater Mode, Game Mode) that you can adjust to your liking, as well as the capability to have a custom setting that you prefer, but you will have to do so manually. Also, I purchased this to replace an HP series monitor because this monitor has built in speakers and the HP one didn't (though I was told in person that it did at Best Buy by an employee in the monitors department). Easy to assemble, plug and play, works well right out of the box. Cons: The major reason why I gave this item 2 stars is because the quality of the built in speakers. They sound like they're wrapped inside an almost air-tight casing. At 100% volume, it's overall volume is about equal to 60% volume of my iPhone 5S (Yes, 5th gen). I literally tested this audibly side by side with my iPhone and it is absolutely disappointing. The older model of this ASUS monitor (also 24") had an incredibly louder volume. In comparison, it's as if the tech quality took a huge step backwards in that sense. I loved the older model because it pretty much was like a 2" TV. The volume was pretty much as loud as a TV. This one? No where close. I got this monitor so that I can switch over to kids songs for my 7 month old daughter whenever I was done using the computer so she can listen to youtube in the background when we are together in our room. It sounds extremely muffled. Overall, it's very disappointing for me, especially for the price. I do not care if it's a newer model. I would place the value of this monitor for this reason at no more than $75 shipped/after taxes. Otherwise, I would not recommend any person(s) who are looking to buy this monitor for its built in speaker capability. I would recommend going with something else. I hope this review provides a clear enough explanation as to why I gave it this rating. The picture is good: the actual physical and functional quality of the visual aspects of this monitor are good. It's the horrible quality of the built in speaker that I didn't like. Why not return it? Because it was on sale for Black Friday and I had been looking online for Monitors for a couple of months. I had already purchased an HP one the same week prior to purchasing this one. The HP one didn't have built in speakers, this one did. I gave the HP monitor to my dad for an early xmas gift for a custom pc I built for him and this one has to make due. I should have read the reviews on the volume before buying. It wouldn't make sense to return an item that saved me money at the end of the day. I didn't want to go through the hassle of shipping it back, blah blah blah. Happy holidays.

I own an older model of this monitor. I bought this one as an upgrade because my old one began to suffer from any sort of power surges. What I mean is, anytime someone in the house flipped on a light switch, plugged in an electronic device, used a vacuum, fan, anything electrical that was plugged in anywhere (inside/outside the house) and caused electricity to cycle through the home, the monitor would momentarily go blank. Then flicker back on. Anyways, this review is for the listed monitor. The visual quality is still equally superb. It has 1 HDMI input port, 1 VGA input port, and 1 DVI input. It has 1 AUX input as it has 1 built in speaker. The stand is rather sturdy, however takes up a good amount of desk space as it's circular/round at the base. It is fairly light weight, so it is easy to transport and move from place to place. My most irritable problem with the monitor is that the speaker volume on full blast is much lower/quieter than my old iPhone 4G's built in speaker... Youtube videos are great visually but the sound is far out of question. I thought I could let my kids watch it with the built in speaker and nope. Sounds like it's muffled and set to about 15% volume on a standard iPhone. I had to buy cheap Ebay speakers to plug into my computer. If you're looking for a monitor with a built in speaker, I'd highly recommend avoiding this monitor. I bought it based on my experience with the older model of this monitor. Overall, 4/5 rating is far in my opinion.

Went for this monitor during my recent M'board / processor / graphics upgrade. I spent most of my budget on the rendering side of things so I needed a lot of bang for buck at the monitor. The Asus VE248H provided a bright HDMI image with 2ms performance and Best Buy matched the amazon price. Very pleased.

I just wanted a larger monitor work a work space. This one looks good and fit the bill. The cord is really short so I had to move my CPU closer to my monitor, but it worked out.

These are not the best, but they do the job. And I have no bleeding in the blacks. I liked it so much I bought another one. I have not had a problem with flickering or frame rate, I did not want to spend alot of money it is 1920 X 1080 not a high resolution, the colors can be made to be really rich. Would buy again.

The color and clarity of this monitor are amazing. Paired with the right graphics card, it offers EXCELLENT graphics for playing games. The colors pop off the screen. I love the design of the base and it was simple to attach it to the screen. I will be purchasing ANOTHER of the Asus 24 Widescreen Flat-Panel LED-LCD HD Monitor - Black, VE248H, to use as a second display.

Good, quality picture. Average sound, but that's standard for most monitors with built in speakers. Ended up returning it, as my parents actually preferred an RCA 24" TV with PC input that I picked up as well. I liked the picture quality better on the ASUS myself.

Great color and resolution. It is always a little difficult to get your colors right! I am still fiddling around with that. And no dead pixels or background bleeding with the blacks. I would buy again!

I miss the one that swiveled and could be turned vertical. This one is just a little more awkward to change its direction. The screen size works well on my 1 1/2 feet by 3 feet 4" desk .The clarity and color are very acceptable.

While on the market for a new monitor, I knew I wanted a wide screen (I'm a gamer and high quality graphics are a must). The ASUS brand is definitely one I trust and they did not disappoint with this monitor. The only issue I have, while multitasking, switching back & forth between one high quality game to another program, the screen does have quite a delay to it (probably 1.5-2.5 seconds), doesn't normally cause any problems, but it is quite noticeable.

Purchased this as a secondary LCD for a MacBook laptop. Plugged in the screen with a small adapter from HDMI to the Display Port and it has worked without issue. Have noted some docking stations seem to have issues with the screen and will not wake it from sleep the way it should, but otherwise, this has been a great addition. Clean lines, high-quality image. Comes with HDMI cable and power cable - adapter was purchased separately.

I got this for gaming and that it would just do, but turned so much more and was cheaper for the quality. The employees were great in helping me pick it out and order it too

This is my second ASUS monitor. I like the product, and feel that I get a great monitor for my money. Will definitely recommend this product to anyone who asks and to all of my friends looking for a monitor.
