    Pure Muscle

The ROG Astral RTX 5090 is an absolute monster of a card, and I mean that literally. It's enormous — three slots wide and heavy enough that a GPU support bracket isn't optional, it's mandatory. Skip it and you're risking sag that'll stress your PCIe slot over time. Plan accordingly before this thing even goes in the case. Performance is in a class of its own. 4K at high framerates with ray tracing enabled is no longer a compromise — it just works. If you're pushing a high-refresh 4K display, this is the only card worth considering right now. Out of the box the fan curve runs loud under load. The default profile seems tuned for thermals over acoustics, so dial in a custom curve early. GPU Tweak III is the go-to for this, but be warned — the software is buggy and unreliable. It gets the job done for fan control, but don't be surprised if it misbehaves. Power delivery demands are real too — make sure your PSU and cabling are fully up to spec before you boot. Worth it. Nothing else comes close.

You're insane if you buy this (not the good type)

Holy smokes what a blazing hot beauty. Can run any game at 4k maxed out settings with well over 100+ fps for the most part. Pretty silent, no noticeable cable whine, and it draws about 575W at maximum usage.. I've owned all the 50 series cards and this one is obviously the best without a doubt; for the cost of your limbs is all. LIKE COME ON ASUS AND NVIDIA WHAT WERE YOU THINKING?? This thing is super overpriced especially in todays economy. $3500 msrp in 2026 is no joke, mine as well put a down payment on a used car with that or something. As an owner of the whole 50 series lineup, I can say that it's not worth it. 5080 is half the price but only about 25-35% lower performance. FOR HALF THE PRICE. Yet, it gaps the 5070 ti and lower model cards by over 90% for sure. If you're thinking about buying this; don't even bother.. Just get a 5080 if you want a high end card, most brands make their 5080 and 5090 look the exact same anyways with only that small performance difference. Not worth paying double for only a 15fps boost in games like Black Myth Wukong. And plus ASUS is mega greedy for the ROG tax, but gosh darn they make a sexy looking card. If you can find a Founders Edition for msrp ($1999) that would probably be a lot more worth, but good luck with that in 2026.

    Astral Ascension: 5090 Perfection

Absolutely stellar card! The ASUS ROG Astral RTX 5090 is a beast. The build quality is exceptional, truly feels premium. Be warned, though, this thing is MASSIVE. I had to adjust my AIO orientation in my mid-tower case to accommodate its sheer size and clear the tubes. Performance is mind-blowing. My 3DMark scores were through the roof 14800+ in Steel Nomad with no tweaks at all , and gaming is buttery smooth at max settings. What's even more impressive are the temps. Under full load while gaming, I'm seeing low to mid 60s (Celsius) with an ambient temp of 74 degrees Fahrenheit. That's significantly cooler than the 5090 Founders Edition I have seen reported, however there are a lot of other factors in play such as fan curves, airflow specifics etc. so YMMV. Upgraded from the 4090 FE, there was no good reason but life is too short to compromise on one of the things I love doing most which is gaming. This wasn't my first choice; I was aiming for one of four specific cards since launch, but in this market, you take what you can get. And I am glad I did! A must-have tip: download ASUS GPU Tweak 3. It's crucial for monitoring, especially the power connections. This card monitors all 8 power pins, an Astral exclusive, and GPU Tweak 3 provides audible alarms and optional OSD warnings if anything goes awry. As of this review, the GPU Tweak 3 beta version is recommended and only works with the 572.75 hotfix version of the GeForce drivers. Despite its monolithic design not being as aesthetically pleasing as the reference Founders card, it's clear this is an engineering marvel. I'm absolutely thrilled to have this card in my primary gaming rig.

A Beast With Brains – The ROG Astral RTX 5090 Nail

Built this into my new rig with the ASUS ROG Crosshair X870E and AMD 9950X3D, and honestly, this thing eats 4K ultra settings for breakfast. Cyberpunk with RT Overdrive? Smooth. Starfield maxed out? Not even a flinch. Temps stay under 70°C even under heavy load, which is wild for a card this powerful. But here’s the real kicker: the Power Detector+ feature in ASUS GPU Tweak III is a game changer. It actively monitors each pin on the 12VHPWR cable and warns you if something’s off. Basically, it tells you if your cable might melt before it tries to cook your PC. No other 5090 does this, and for anyone who’s seen what a toasted GPU connector looks like, that peace of mind is worth its weight in gold (or GDDR7, in this case). It looks sleek in black, stays frosty, and plays watchdog for your PSU cable. If you're already on a high-end build, this card isn't just the obvious choice. It’s the smart one, too.

    Big, Bulky, Beautiful.

This is the best 5090 on the market. The only one that allows you to track the power draw to ensure you're pulling adequate amounts of power so your cable doesn't melt. It's big, it's bulky, it's beautiful. This 5090 is an absolute power house ! It has been able to handle anything I throw at it, from 2k to 4k resolution. The cooler on this card is one of the best on the market. Even during long gaming sessions this card has never went above the mid to high 60s range, with it usually staying right aroung the 60-62 area. There are only 2 negatives to this card in my opinion, and thats price and noise. However, you get what you pay for and for a big beefy card with a massive cooler, you can expect some loud noise keeping it cool. Truth be told, other than the price point.. this card has been absolutely perfect and just what I wanted for the best of the best GPUs.
