This laptop honestly handles pretty much everything ive thrown at it. I wanted something asus partially for sentimental reasons, dumb I know. But my father had this ASUS gaming laptop he got back in 2013, massive machine, that still runs to this day. Maybe not for games from today, but it still runs well. When he got his I knew one day I’d want my own, so it has been kind of a dream of mine since I was a child. But anyway, I first got the ASUS Zephyrus g16 I believe, but the 2023 version. It ran so hot, but thats to be expected with such a thin laptop with even a 4060 in it. I then moved onto the Alienware M16 r2 which I kind of hated. I loved it and hated it. I didnt like the software. It wasnt a bad laptop by any means, I just didn’t like it. That one had a 4070 in it and one of the intel ultra chips so it ran a lot cooler. But it still didn’t have the power I was hoping for. So I finally decided to just spend the money on the one I wanted all along, and there are no regrets. Ive had this laptop since around May or June and its been my daily driver for everything but work, mostly just because the screen is so nice I like to have movies or something on in the background while I work. I use this for gaming as well, and I have had everything set on the highest settings with no issues. I dont play FPS games, but I have zero doubts anyone who does will have any issues either. The only issues I reallt run into are with the RGB and the ASUS armoury crate and aura creator clashing with windows. Sometimes a windows update will leave the RGB useless for a while unless you uninstall the update and wait a while to update things. Or sometimes there may be issues when updating armoury crate and aura creator, so a vice versa kind of thing. But it happens often enough where the RGB isnt on. This is kind of a bigger deal for me personally because I customize the lighting of the keyboard in a way to match the controls for the games I play and have various different ones set up I switch between. Even some that will show me by color roughly how hot the cpu/gpu is or how used those components are. Besides thet issue, its amazing. That really is just a software issue over a hardware issues though. The fans are loud, but I personally don’t mine that like others do. And it pushes out A LOT of hot air, but that is to be expected given the machine itself. The only other thing I would recommend is getting a keyboard cover. There are some issues that come with using one, but if you have pets I highly recommend this. There is a fan that pulls hot air through the keyboard to keep things cool and it does a wonderful job. That being said however, as I am sure you can imagine, it pulls in dust, hair, etc in the process and it is hard to get out of the keyboard. Best advice is to keep it clean from the get go. I tend to remove the keyboard cover when gaming on high settings. But anyway this is an amazing device, and if you can get it discounted its even more well worth it if you like asus products and asus software.

I've been on a Mac for 18 plus years so it was a shock switching to a PC. I wanted to make sure whatever I got would be powerful like my Mac but I needed it to be more for gaming than designing. I went back and forth on what brand to go with and in the end, my choices ended up being the Lenovo Legion, the Alienware, and this ASUS. Price is a factor but this time around I decided that I would go all out and get a specked-out machine as I wanted to make sure it would last for a long time. ASUS had the best laptop for what I was wanting. I knew the i9 14gen and the 4080 was a must. I would have rather had the 4090 but this laptop had the best bang with the 32gb ram and 2TB hard drive. The only way to get the 4090 in an ASUS was switching to the Scar and the spec difference in the two didn't justify the price for me. This 240hz screen is super bright and has a Beautiful color array all my games so far just looks stunning. I don't know what they're doing with their display or the software but they got it right. The laptop starts up extremely fast powers up when it needs to be. The battery is not the best. I'm used to extremely long battery life with my Mac. The battery life on this is actually pretty sad but it's a gaming laptop so it's expected it has a good amount of ports but I think I would've preferred a few more thunderbolt or USB-C ports as that's where everything is going the one flaw that I have with this laptop is its design. The hinges seem strong, but they're ugly. The body isn't bad but it's not sleek when you look at Apple laptops or razors laptops you can see what I'm talking about with a design even the Lenovo legion has a sleek design. Everybody's different and I'm sure people will find the design of the laptop to be stunning, but for me, it just sticks out like a sore thumb, but on the other hand, the performance justifies this weird look to me if you're looking for a powerhouse laptop that can play anything you throw at it and probably will be able to for quite some time at an affordable price. This one right here is by far amazing.

You get what you pay for. I added an additional M.2 4TB SSD to the laptop and removing the bottom panel was pretty easy. If you're wondering if you can add a M.2 SSD with a pre-install heatsink, I would definitely measure beforehand since the clearance is somewhat iffy. I used a custom made heatsink with a thermal pad and copper plate that had a low peofile, no bigger than the SSD itself. Performance wise, the laptop does what it is suppose to do. It performs well with triple A titles depending on how much you're willing to exert the settings of the game and laptop. However, make sure you invest in a laptop fan cooling pad/pad. It still surprise me that current generation laptop do not have pop-out legs/stands so the bottom fans isn't congested. The fan noise is tolerable but can get extremely loud (kind of expected from a laptop). If you usually play with earphones then you can disregard this information. Get this laptop if you're planning to replace your desktop for mobility purposes. The specs is nothing crazy and remember that the 4080M is not similar to the desktop 4080 variant. The CPU is onpar to how it should perform. The screen is cool but it is nothing to boast about, especially for it's price. Again, get a laptop cooling pad/cooler because it gets hot pretty fast, especially for longevity purposes unless money isn't a problem for you. Expect to be on the charger majority of the time if you want to play games on the highest performance. I'll give this laptop approximately five years of revelancy before it becomes obsolete with more spec demanding games. Overall, it's a decent laptop that performs well for what I need it for.
