Board came from BestBuy super fast via UPs, unfortunately as motherboard was being inspected before mounting, we noticed that 2 teeth in the CPU housing were bent. Motherboard was packaged back up and returned. Too much money to take a chance and see if it worked. Bummer

I built a high-performance system centered around the Intel Core Ultra 9 285K and the ASUS ROG Strix Z890-E Gaming WiFi, and the experience has been fantastic in terms of stability, thermal management, and performance tuning. It has a 20+1+2 VRM design, which easily handles the 285K's power demands even when pushing high workloads or doing light overclocking. The large VRM heatsinks keep temps under control, and the overall board layout is clean and builder-friendly. The Z890-E is an ideal match for the Ultra 9 285K. It offers excellent power delivery, thermal performance, and expandability, making it a future-proof platform for gaming, content creation, and heavy multitasking. If you're building an enthusiast-grade PC, this pairing is hard to beat.

The ASUS ROG Strix Z890-E is a solid motherboard that's packed with features, making it a worthwhile investment for my needs. Having always opted for the Hero lineup in the past, I initially considered it this time as well. However, with the Hero priced $250 higher and retailing at $700, the value just wasn’t there—especially given the rising cost of these motherboards lately. Unless you need specific features exclusive to the Hero, the Strix is undeniably worth it. I currently have the Strix Z890-E paired with an Intel Core 285K and Corsair 8000 CUDIMM RAM, both of which are overclocked and running stable. It has handled everything seamlessly, delivering excellent performance without compromise. For anyone weighing the Hero against this option, the Strix Z890-E proves that you can get ample features and reliability without breaking the bank.
