I wanted something without an internal battery that I could hook up two monitors. It also had to be minimum 16gb ram and 1tb worth of storage for the processes I use.

What a great price for a machine that basically does it all. Even runs my triple A games seamlessly. Have no complaints.

I've had a bad year with computers. Usually I get my son's self-built gaming hand-me-downs when he upgrades but he didn't have anything available when my tower choked and died. He'd been pushing me to give up my beloved tower and move to a laptop hooked to peripherals so that's what I did, at first. I wanted to keep the purchase under $1,000 and preferably closer to $500. First he helped me pick out a Dell laptop which I hooked up to a Dell dock and two monitors. I had so many problems with it that I sent it back. Then I bought a much more expensive Lenovo laptop which I mostly loved and am keeping for use strictly as a laptop. It also had recurring problems that I believe are related to it not playing well with peripherals, even though I bought a compatible Lenovo dock and my monitor is Lenovo too. Many many calls to Customer Care but problems would recur or new problems would pop up. Also, even though I paid for upgraded Lenovo Customer Care, I still ended up having to deal with AI and low-grade first tier tech support. With a brand new computer I shouldn't have to be calling support all the time anyway. So I ended up buying this tower and so far I am completely satisfied. But as you can imagine, after all those false starts, I'm kind of waiting for the second shoe to drop. Hopefully it doesn't. This Asus tower was reasonably easy to set up and nothing has gone wrong in the two weeks I've been using it. It's smaller than older towers so I can have it set on a side table which makes it easy to use the front usb ports. It's quiet although I do hear it running and the sound is a little high pitched and irritating, but I'm pretty sensitive to device noises especially when the house is quiet. If I had it under my desk I don't think I would notice it, but it's kind of at ear level not very far from my ear. I haven't used the wired mouse and keyboard it came with because I like the wireless ones I already have. That didn't cause any problems with setup or use. It's nice that now I have wired spares because sometimes you need them in a pinch or to troubleshoot. It has enough ports for my use, although I have additional ports on my monitor that are in use. But you can always get a hub if you need more ports. The easily accessible ports on the front are handy. There's no CD drive, I don't think any computers have them anymore. I have a portable usb disk drive that I can use when I need to. You'll also need speakers and a monitor, both of which I already had. As long as this continues to "just work" I'll be very happy with this purchase. It does everything I need. I've downloaded multiple programs that I use, without issue. It's got plenty of storage (I got the 1 TB model) and it works as fast as any other computer I've used. I haven't had to contact Customer Care yet, so that's a good start, but it also means I don't know how helpful Asus Customer Care is.
