Good everyday monitor at a reasonable price

The most complicated thing about a monitor is the assembly. While even that is fairly simple, it’s important to do it right. The included instructions left a lot to be desired. There was a small piece of paper with some sketches and there were some sketches on the monitor wrapping itself. I prefer words to pictures so I looked at the user’s manual on the Dell support website indicated by the included QR code. The instructions were there, but I didn’t see them until after I had assembled the monitor because they were on page 26 and not at the beginning where I expected them to be. Dell recommends that the stand be attached while the monitor is still in the box. The tool needed to attach the screws is included. The monitor is fully adjustable both up and down and tilt. The height can be adjusted from 19.96 inches to 15.92 inches. The user’s manual says it swivels, but I couldn’t make it swivel side to side without moving the base. What it can do is pivot from horizontal to vertical. There is a cable management clip on the back of the stand. The stand itself is very robust and has a substantial base - about 8 x 8 inches in the front and 8 x 10 inches in the back. The monitor can be wall mounted. There are 2 HDMI ports and a security lock slot. It does not have speakers. The 4 function buttons are easy to use, but impossible to see on the black rimmed screen. It doesn’t matter, though, because they all bring up the same options initially and are then just used for navigation. The menu options are easy to navigate. Although the user’s guide could be better organized, it is very thorough and has all the information that should ever be needed. It includes instructions for troubleshooting using the onboard self diagnostic menu. According to the user’s guide, this monitor supports AMD FreeSync Technology for tear-free, stutter-free, low latency gaming. It has a refresh rate of up to 144 Hz and a rapid response time of 1 ms in MPRT mode. It has wide viewing angles of 178 degrees in both vertical and horizontal directions and is flicker free. Harmful blue light exposure is ≤50%. It is certified with TÜV Rheinland Eye Comfort 3.0 with a 3-star rating and is Energy Star certified. I found the colors to be vibrant and true. Those features should make it an acceptable gaming monitor, although there are probably better options for the serious gamers. Written text in a document is as clear as can be expected from a Full HD product. After using a 4K monitor, Full HD text is somewhat blurry. However, for half the price of the 4K version, this one is acceptable. I think 4K would be better for gaming, but this monitor is very suitable for everyday work at a reasonable price.

Rich Color, Wide Viewing Angles, and Great Motion

The SE2726HS is a 1080p monitor with rich, vibrant colors and versatile tilt, swivel, and height adjustments that can even work as a gaming monitor the high refresh rate. Design There is a grey "Dell" logo on the front, bottom, bezel. The logo is visible but muted with the black background of the rest of the bezel. The other three sides of the bezel are thinner, though I wouldn't say the bottom is thick. There are two HDMI 1.4 ports and one power port on the back - that's it. There's no extra power brick either. Just plug the standard (a common type for many computers and monitors) power cable from the wall directly into the back. No other video ports, no USB, no headphone jack, and no built-in speakers. There are adjustments to change the height and angle of the display almost anyway you want. While you can't make it a full portrait orientation, it gets pretty close, give you a large rotation range. There are around 4.5 inches of vertical adjustment, allowing you to slide the display up and down. You can tilt the display up or down too. And the entire thing is resting on turn-table (see picture) that's on the bottom of the base. That makes it easy to turn the display very far in either direction. It includes a power cord and one HDMI cord. There is a basic but effective cable holder in the back of the up-right part of the stand (see picture). It's not very heavy either coming in under 12 lbs. Display The IPS display provides bright and wide viewing angles, horizontally and vertically. Colors are rich and crisp. I was surprised to find that even for what I would consider a value monitor, not only is the display excellent, bright, and evenly lit, but it supports AMD FreeSync too and has a 144 Hz refresh rate and 1 ms response time! It's not advertised as a gaming monitor and it it's the 4K, but for a 1080p monitor, it's very nicely loaded and works well with games too. I haven't noticed any blurring with motion. There also hasn't been any tearing when gaming (thanks to FreeSync I believe). It works great for playing games a 1080p and man, ultra high frame rates that come with lower resolution gaming are pretty nice too! It's my experience that you need to set Windows to the max refresh rate of any monitor and this is no different - just go to Windows Settings, "Display", and "Advanced Display" to set the refresh rate to 144 Hz, assuming your PC supports it. Controls There are five buttons under the right side of the bottom edge of the monitor. The right most is power. They're easy to feel. The other four are used to configure the monitor. When you press one to activate the menu system, there are icons that point to each one so you know where to press. That works very well and makes the menu system ok to navigate. Assembly It's easy to put together but different than most monitors I've worked with. While they often have holes in the back for a VESA mounting bracket, this one uses those holes to attach to the stand. To put it together, keep the display in the box, screw the base onto the up-right with the built-in screw that you can turn with your fingers on the bottom of the base. Then position the up-right on the back of the monitor and use the included Philips screwdriver to put the four included screws in the back to secure the monitor to the base. Everything lined up perfectly for me and it attached very well, feeling completely solid and sturdy. Summary If you are looking for a larger 1080p monitor with great motion, vibrant colors, and a higher refresh rate, this checks all the key boxes without having you pay for lots of ports and features that you may never need. The adjustability of the monitor in all directions is an excellent plus!

Great Monitor, Refresh Rate, Great Price!

The new Dell Monitor Model Number E2726HS has many features that are very desirable in a monitor. The visual is noticeably clear and has a refresh rate of 144 Hz, which is much easier on the eyesight, both short-term and long-term. It is rated high for eye comfort compared to many monitors that still have only a 60 Hz refresh rate. As someone with cornea issues from decades of daily screen time, this is particularly important to me and should be to everyone as a preventive measure, now that we know what blue light can do to eyesight. The 3-star certification indicates that the monitor reduces blue light without compromising color quality. The Anti-glare screen is another Dell feature that adds eye comfort. The 27” screen is designed with ultimate adjustability, but without the adjustable base, it still offers a 178-degree viewing angle, partly due to its design that incorporates In-Plane Switching (IPS). IPS is a type of LCD screen technology that aligns liquid crystals horizontally rather than vertically. This technology produces better color, resulting in a wider viewing angle. The total overall size of the monitor is 24.1” wide, 20” tall with the adjustable base extended, and 8.3” thick. It has a nice, thin, light bezel, and the entire monitor with stand weighs only 11.86 pounds. The monitor is equipped with Free Sync technology and, with its high refresh rate, is designed to synchronize with an AMD GPU's frame output. Originally, this software-based output was for gaming and to make the HDMI connection smoother, without any lag. Instead of a fixed refresh rate, this is a variable refresh rate that synchronizes with the GPU, eliminating transmission lag. The monitor has 2 HDMI 1.4 ports and is wall-mountable with a wall mounting bracket. Where the four small screws connect the base, they would instead connect to a VESA-type wall mount. I love Dell Products and have used them consistently since the early 1990s. I would give this monitor 5 stars if it had either a built-in webcam or speakers, but it has neither. If your life/work requires a lot of Zoom interaction, a webcam and speakers built into the monitor are nice to have. Still, for the price, it produces an excellent picture with rich colors and smooth transmission, making it a very high-quality product. The monitor has a 3-year warranty, and I definitely would not hesitate to recommend it. For under $140, it’s a great buy!
