About This Item

Vinyl LP pressing. 2020 . For over 20 years, Atmosphere has pursued the underbelly of what it means to be human with a rabid curiosity. Ant's dusky production has provided the pulse for Slug's evolving and matter-of-fact pen. As Slug transitioned from throwing-up-in-the-backseat-raps to holding-hands-when-you-cross-the-street-raps, Ant has grown to be a master of crate digging and unearthing the humanity of a drum loop. Thriving at the intersection of guttural and self-effacing, Atmosphere will go down as some of America's best archivists. On Whenever, the duo continue to move in lockstep. Within the minutiae lie clues they're still struggling with mortality and the need to protect emotional energy, as on previous releases, but there's a quiet romanticism now, with Slug sounding-reluctantly-in love with life. And no other producer can pull truths out of a rapper like Ant fishes the blues out of Slug. The album breathes in the way only Slug and Ant could summon a collective breath. On Whenever, the duo inhale panic and exhale greatness.

Mobb Deep - Infamous - VINYL LP
    4.8(5)

Limited double 180 gram vinyl LP pressing. The Infamous is the second studio album by the American hip hop duo Mobb Deep, released in 1995. The album features guest appearances from Nas and Wu-Tang Clan members Reakwon and Ghostface Killah. It marked Mobb Deep's transition from a relatively unknown rap duo to an influential and commercially successful one. One of the cornerstones of the New York hardcore movement, The Infamous is Mobb Deep's masterpiece, a relentlessly bleak song cycle that's been hailed by hardcore rap fans as one of the most realistic gangsta albums ever recorded. This is hard, underground hip hop that demands to be met on it's own terms, with few melodic hooks to draw the listener in. Similarly, there's little pleasure or relief offered in the picture of the streets Mobb Deep paint here. They inhabit a war zone where crime and paranoia hang constantly in the air. The product of an uncommon artistic vision, The Infamous stands as an all-time gangsta/hardcore classic. Album Tracks 1. The Start of Your Ending (41st Side) 2. [The Infamous Prelude] 3. Survival of the Fittest 4. Eye for a Eye (Your Beef Is Mines) 5. [Just Step Prelude] 6. Give Up the Goods (Just Step) 7. Temperature's Rising 8. Up North Trip 1. Trife Life 2. Q.U. - Hectic 3. Right Back at You 4. [The Grave Prelude] 5. Cradle to the Grave 6. Drink Away the Pain (Situations) 7. Shook Ones Pt. II 8. Party Over
