STANDARD is the name of Aubrey Logan's new album. But there is nothing about it that is normal or average. Since breaking onto the LA music scene in 2013, Aubrey has turned the jazz genre on it's ear. In fact, she has refused to be categorized by a single genre. Attending one of Aubrey's shows is like going to the carnival and buying a ticket to the house of mirrors-one never knows what is going to be just around the corner.So one might expect that on an album named STANDARD, one would be hearing another retread of standard jazz tunes... with just another singer. But just like that house of mirrors, you should expect to be surprised. Yes, you will hear some jazz classics... but not like you've ever heard them before. And you'll hear a couple of new jazz classics (penned by Ms. Logan herself). But you may also hear an opera tune or a classic rock song that has been magically and seamlessly transformed by a jazz arrangement.

Aubrey Logan is no stranger to global fame, regularly amassing close to 2.5 million video hits whenever she delivers one of her unique swing-tinged, trombone-enriched, pop covers for the almighty viral sensation Postmodern Jukebox. Now the girl who was Inchtoo jazzyInch for Simon Cowell on American Idol and who won the Montreux Jazz Festival Competition in 2009, takes a charismatic step into the solo limelight to her debut album Impossible. A diverse, eclectic collection of genres and sounds, Logan had always been told it'd be impossible to successfully create a cross-genre album - a claim she has worked hard to defiantly prove wrong. This album is the epitome of Inchdefying the impossible,Inch hence the very apt title of Impossible. Eccentric, eclectic and enthused, Logan doesn't adhere to genre rules, as it is simply not in her nature. This smart, sassy femme fatale has an insatiable appetite for entertaining her audience and doesn't believe that our joy should be confined by genre parameters, which is evident on her debut album bringing the listener on a musical journey through exuberant presentation.

Venice's four famous orphanages for girls, the Ospedali, were, along with St Mark's Basilica, the musical centers of the city and a European-wide attraction for musicians and travellers. Famous teachers such as Vivaldi, Hasse, Porpora, Legrenzi, Rosenmüller and many others provided the girls with high-quality musical training and programmes of performances. Baldassare Galuppi, who was central to the development of Italian opera, was maestro di coro at the Ospedale di San Lazzaro dei Mendicanti for twelve years, for which he created the oratorio InchJahelInch in 1747 and performed it there. The oratorio is about the biblical heroine Jahel, whose murder of the army leader Sisara leads to the liberation of Israel. The music is pointed with all it's might towards the Viennese classical period, and the experienced Galuppi opera composer can be felt in every note. He wrote the arias for the various soloists of the Ospedale, thus demonstrating the high level of singing that prevailed there. The Musica Fiorita ensemble around harpsichordist Daniela Dolci, together with the Mädchenkantorei Basel and young soloists from the Basel scene, present with Galuppi's InchJahelInch an elaborate repertoire excavation of the first order in exemplary interpretation.
