About this product

Close to five years since their last record, Leeds denizens Autobahn re-enter the fray with the of their third record, Ecstasy of Ruin. Many of the hallmarks of their characteristic blend of industrial post-punk remain intact, but under the bonnet they're a much leaner, more focused machine. Live drums have given way to drum-machines and sample-based percussion, and with it the band reconfigure their typically blackened aesthetic into a hardened take on Electronic Body Music. As with their previous record, it's an entirely self-produced collection, recorded between two self-built studios on a range of analogue equipment, the ghosts of their industrial forefathers haunting the circuits. Indeed, some of Ecstasy of Ruin was made with pieces salvaged from Martin Hannett's legendary studio. Autobahn certainly feel part of the long tradition of crepuscular music to emanate from Northern Britain, be that the transgressive activities of COUM Transmissions from Hull, Sheffield Steel City or the gothic history of their very own hometown. Ecstasy of Ruin also speaks to right now. No album opens with a song titled 'Post-History' and closes with another called 'Class War' without some concession to the current condition and it's place within it. Industrial music by it's nature is a physical concern, often placing the human body and it's experience in the context of technology, reflecting the varying trevails of late capitalism. Autobahn strive towards some kind of articulation of that conflict. The music is unrelentingly taut and terse, and the vocals of Craig Johnson are invariably intense, though lyrically there are repeated allusions to beauty, empowerment and, ostensibly, hope. As such, the title of the album is an instructive one - there's some kind of bliss in all this mess. Autobahn don't so much push against the pain as ride it out to it's (il)logical ends.1. Camerata Mediolanense - Le Vergini Folli - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Digipak. 2017 . Camerata Mediolanense is an ensemble of Italian musicians who gained recognition in the neofolk/neoclassical scenes by blending darkwave and post-punk with the musical spirit of the Renaissance and Baroque periods. The group was born in Milan in 1994, founded by harpsichordist/musicologist Elena Previdi. Literally translated as Incha group of chamber musicians from MilanoInch, Camerata Mediolanense is renowned for creating music according to the traditions and history of Italy and Europe's classical and folk music, and by using sublime voices, martial percussions, keyboards and electronic devices. With Le Vergini Folli (English The Foolish Virgins), Camerata Mediolanense has created a dense, rich work that places the piano in the foreground and uses a strict musical language of tonal harmony which is out of fashion nowadays and thus immerses the listener in the sounds of centuries past. Guided by the pure beauty of simple melodies, channeled through love songs, and interpreted by enchanting female voices, Le Vergini Folli is unique to the band's discography in that the album is devoid of percussion, driven primarily by the captivating interplay of vocals and vintage pianos that date back to the late nineteenth and early twentieth century. Unlike all of the group's previous works, which are deliberately organized into a specific sequence, the band invites listeners to freely change the order of the tracks on Le Vergini Folli to enhance and diversify the experience. your mind and unlock the inner secrets of Camerata Mediolanense!

Autobahn - Dissemble - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Debut album follows the of two self-titled EPs over the past 12 months. Dissemble was recorded with Matt Peel at The Nave, a hometown studio situated in the wholly appropriate setting of a disused church. The band co-produced the record with Peel over six intense weeks, dedicating all of their time to the studio and taking potentially unhealthy cues from the legacy of notorious obsessive, Martin Hannett. The result is an album that pushes the band through various degrees of light and shade, but ultimately into new, unexpected sonic spaces.
