SoftMaker Office offers an affordable, quick, and simple-to-use alternative to Microsoft Office. It uses the Microsoft formats, such as .docx, .xlsx, and .pptx as its default file types to skip annoying import and export. It includes TextMaker, PlanMaker, Presentations, and BasicMaker.
Q: Does this contain an email program similar to outlook
A: No it does not. It has word processor, spreadsheet and presentation software. There is also BasicMaker which works only on Windows. There is no counterpart for MS Outlook, but you could use any open source email client e.g. Thunderbird.

A: Our recommendation would be to uninstall old Microsoft Office first. SoftMaker Office will install into a different folder, so it will not update old installations of Microsoft Office. You could also use both products on the same computer if you have a reason for it.
