Avatar: The Way of Water - BLU-RAY 3-D [Standard] [Blu-ray 3D]

Avatar: The Way of Water, is the long-gestating follow-up to the highest-grossing film of all time that finally released on Christmas 2022 and subsequently became the third highest-grossing film ever. Why are these two films in the top 5? Sure, they have immaculate presentations and the native 3D camera work on both are superb, the Oscar-winning special effects (on both) are amazing and the ither technical stuff are amaxing, but the films offer no depth for its characters or storytelling. The sequel is just a mash-up of the themes and characters of the furst film, lengthened a half-hour, and a dash or two of water added for goid measure. Its just a mid film with top-tier tech specs and nothing more. While a 4k 3D version would be ideal, or even a combo pack of the 4k and 3D discs would suffice, this 3D BluRay package is simply wonderful fircwhat it is. This 4-disc set is comprised of the first 2 discs containing the film in 3D, disc 3 being the film on a single BluRay disc, and disc 4 the extras. Simply put, the 3D imagery is wonderful and reference quality. While an HDR-capable 3D experience would be ideal, the sharp visuals, bright and vivid colors and the 3D are amazing. The only complaint is the start of the film had a couple of scenes that were very flat feeling, but that was also true in the 3D theatrical experience, so its true to its source. The split point between discs is akso a bit jarring and the lack of a Dolby Atmos track on the 3D or 1080p discs is also a tragedy. However, the Dolby 7.1 track is still a great aural experience and is Disney's best work in some time with its home release. The picture for the flat 1080p BluRay is also reference quality and is quite a stunner in its own right. The extras are quite good, comprised of documentaries and featurettes about the making of the film, a mysic video and trailers conplete the package for an overall outstanding set. Its a must buy for 3D enthusiasts and film fans. Get it while you can!

Includes 4 discs - a regular DVD of the movie; a BluRay disc; a 3D disc, and a Bonus Features disc which is great. I was lucky enough to purchase a TV with 3D capability, not knowing that for the most part, 3D TVs were not going to be available any more. Hopefully, manufacturers will produce them again since some movies, such as the Avatar movies, are fantastic when viewed in 3D. Overall, Avatar - The Way Of Water, is about as enjoyable as a movie can get in 3D and I hope 3D makes a comeback one of these days.

As best as can be done (these days) in terms of splitting the movie up into 2 discs to reduce compression artifacts. Originally saw the movie in HFR 3D Digital and it bounced between standard 24p and High Frame Rate which took some getting used to. I think this Blu-ray disc presentation is a good compromise at 24p for the smaller screens we have at home. Where this disc is sorely lacking is in the audio department - no immersive audio. Why can't we get a DTS:X or Dolby Atmos mix on 3D Blu anymore (like Dune 3D does)??? To be fair the mix sounds fine, could do with a wider dynamic range but I'm being picky. It just would've been fantastic in Atmos. Overall a great disc and I'm happy to see a big 3D Blu in 2023.

I consider myself a 3-D enthusiast when it comes to home cinema and this movie is the new reference. What an incredible experience to have and own! If you love home theater and watching your friends and families jaws drop then you MUST BUY THIS MOVIE!! So incredible, the clarity is astounding! Beyond satisfied with my purchase.

I was really excited to get a 3d copy of this movie! I did not catch the preorders and waited for a physical copy. Disney already was selling a digital version , but i had to have this one. Thankfully best buy emailed me when new stock arrived. The movie itself is excellent starts right after the last one giving a few years in between and there technology shows. The 3d is really good . The water scenes are phenomenal. If you have a 3d setup this has to be in your library!
