Vinyl LP pressing. 2017 . It's not typical for an artist to self-title their fifth album. That's normally meant for debut records. But, while Brooklyn-based singer/songwriter Ayo has four records under her belt, it's actually quite fitting that she chose the eponymous title. The 14-track record, which exquisitely blends folk reggae and pop with soul influences and a dash of hip hop, marks many firsts for the artist and serves as her musical rebirth. The musical mission is crystal clear on Ayo make beautiful music seeped in positivity, love, and light and that makes people feel something. Ayo is back with Mami Wata, her 7th album. Named after the Nigerian goddess of the sea, this new album focuses on water, the main inspiration for the singer who moved to Tahiti 3 years ago. Ayo has drawn new compositions from her environment in the middle of the Pacific, ranging from intimate ballads to rhythmic litanies. Mami Wata is a logbook, testimony to the new birth of a powerful female artist. Nothing is left to chance in her free verse lyrics, or in her melodies, harmonies and arrangements, which oscillate with precision at the crossroads of genres. German singer and songwriter Ay?'s debut album, Joyful, celebrates it's 10th Anniversary in 2026. The album was recorded over five days in New York City with producer Jay Newland. It peaked at No.6 on the albums chart in France and was certified double platinum by the Syndicat National de l'Édition Phonographique (SNEP).
