About this product
Goldenrod Vinyl. Bachelor, the new project from Melina Duterte (Jay Som) and Ellen Kempner (Palehound), is not a band, it's a friendship. In January of 2020, the duo packed the entirety of Duterte's recording equipment into two cars and headed to a rental house in Topanga, CA where over the course of two weeks, they wrote and recorded their debut album Doomin' Sun. In this space, Kempner and Duterte hybridized their individual songwriting talents, producing a collection that slips between moods with ease and showcases their lyrical prowess. On the bass-heavy rock song InchStay in the Car,Inch the duo paint a yearning portrait of a woman in a supermarket parking lot, a barely-contained desire oozing out of cotidian descriptions like InchShe burns out of the market/ Plastic bags digging into wrists/ Blood stuck in her fingertips.Inch The heavy bass makes another appearance on InchAnything At All,Inch a track with a chorus so playful it could be a schoolyard taunt, defying the darker lyrical themes heard on the verses. There was a lot of pain that went into the record, especially around themes of queerness and climate change inspired by the red skies and wildfires subsuming Australia at the time. However, when the duo did shed tears during the creative process, they weren't tears of sadness, they were tears of laughter. When Kempner and Duterte look back on those weeks, what they remember first is shortness of breath and the inability to track vocal takes without falling to the floor howling. They couldn't remember a time they'd ever been so delirious with creativity, so overwhelmed with joy.

Ex-Void is a new musical group featuring former Joanna Gruesome members Owen Williams and Alanna McArdle. After having written two short albums of 'critically acclaimed' hyper-aggressive pop music, touring the capitalist west, and winning a kind of 'National Music Prize' with Joanna Gruesome, McArdle & Williams went their separate ways.Following the split, McArdle (a Gemini) began a lucrative career selling occult & astrological speculations to various lifestyle magazines, while Williams (an Aquarius) earned a small monthly allowance playing electric guitar in the notoriously pathetic, prostration-centered Punk-Rock group The Snivellers. While sonically a continuation of the InchGruesome SoundInch in some ways (particularly in the inclusion of brief and aggressive 'hardcore' punk sections), Ex-Void exploit the use of vocal harmonies and twin-lead guitars to push the 'pop' qualities of McArdle and Williams' writing into extreme and dangerous territory. The group also take an interest in spoken word, regularly experiment in different areas of vocal aggression, incorporate their daily occult/astrological practice into the band's curricular and extracurricular activities.1. Bachelor - Doomin Sun [COMPACT DISCS] UK - Import date 06/04/2021

Limited edition vinyl releases of titles previously available in boxed sets only. Original studio albums remixed by Steven Wilson & Robert Fripp. Limited to 2000 copies per title. Pressed on 200 gram vinyl. Originally begun in 2009 by Steven Wilson & Robert Fripp for King Crimson's 40th anniversary, a series of new mixes were prepared in both stereo & 5. 1 formats & issued as CD/DVD-a sets. The CD/DVD-A series also provided the catalyst for the larger scale King Crimson boxed sets as issued from 2012 onwards. The impact of both the CD/DVD-A series & the boxed sets helped to kick start a wider interest in the mainstream market for surround sound & for all-encompassing artist boxed sets which had, previously, been limited mostly to 'direct to fan' and/or specialist online sales & retailers. Consumer demand for the remixes on vinyl led to two boxed sets being issued in late 2018.
