About this product

Setting their stall out for the first time is The Backyard Casanovas with Backyard Stomp. A debut album conceived after a few practice sessions, followed by a couple of live performances, before being captured on film by Bopflix Films, not to mention a few rounds of a local homebrew to ensure morale was at it's highest, to realise that there may just be something in this new project. While new may not be highly accurate when piecing together the details concerning The Backyard Casanovas because they have been a part of the 50's rhythm and blues scene for some time. Having founded during 2018 in Bonn, Germany, the four-piece band can normally be seen and heard supporting Cat Lee King with additional title bestowed to them Inch... and his CocksInch. Therefore, with normal duties on vacation for the time being, The Backyard Casanovas position themselves under the spotlight for their debut album Backyard Stomp. Taking inspiration from delta-blues and leaning on heroes as Hound Dog Taylor or ramshackle rockabilly ramblings of Hasil Adkins for example, The Backyard Casanovas of Tommy J. Croole (Vocals/Lead Guitar), Sidney Ramone (Rhythm Guitar/Percussion), Lucky Luciano (Double Bass), and Rene Lieutenant (Drums) also know how to write a tune of their own with many songs being original compositions included on Backyard Stomp.

Savoy Brown - Blues All Around - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

2023 . Quarto Valley Records is honored to the last newly recorded music by the late great Kim Simmonds and Savoy Brown. The album follows Savoy Brown's critically acclaimed 2022 album, Ain't Done Yet. InchThe album continues the approach I've been taking with the band this past decade,Inch says guitarist/singer/songwriter Kim Simmonds, who formed the band in 1965 in London, England, and is one of the longest running Blues Rock bands in existence. InchThe big difference with the new album is the multi-layer approach I took to recording the guitar parts. It's all blues-based rock music. I try to find new and progressive ways to write and play the music I've loved since I was a young teenager.Inch Kim Simmonds Guitar, Vocals, Organ and Harmonica / Garnet Grimm Drums and Percussion / Pat DeSalvo Bass

A marvellous collection of four bluesmen all of whom had little in common other than that they recorded briefly and then retreated back into the obscurity from which they came. As the sleeve makes clear the only one of the four about whose later life anything at all is known was King Solomon Hill and, ironically, for many years, it was doubted he even existed. Bo Weavil Jackson (otherwise known as Sam Butler) recorded thirteen tracks all here and all recorded in 1926. He was discovered in Alabama but may have come from the Carolinas. He was a powerful, almost tormented singer, with a high pitched almost howling voice, and accompanied himself with some aggressive powerful bottleneck guitar. He sang some superb blues, such as 'Poor Boy' but also spirituals and leaves you with the strong impression that his religion was not much of a comfort to him. Nothing is known of Bobby Grant who sang two songs in 1927 but recorded nothing else. He may have come from Georgia as he sings of 'Lonesome Atlanta Blues but we don't know. He has a full, slightly soft voice and plays fluent guitar but has none of the torment or anger of Bo Weavil. King Solomon Hill appears on six songs from 1932, his entire then known recorded output, although more has since been discovered. He was later discovered to be Joe Holmes, a Mississippi singer after detective work by Gayle Wardlow. A powerful singer with a propensity to use a falsetto voice occasionally, his blues are masterful. A brooding, haunting version of 'The Gone Dead Train' is particularly memorable. Lastly, Lane Hardin has two songs from 1935, his entire output. Nothing is known of him. The sleeve note speculates he may have been from Mississippi. His songs, 'Hard Time Blues' and 'California Desert Blues' make one wonder if he sought survival in trying to move to California but nothing more was heard of him. He has a full soft voice and a
