About this product

Although Chet Baker and Bill Evans were both highly lyrical and introspective players who could have made a marvelous team, they only recorded together on a couple of occasions. By the time these recordings were made in 1958-59, Chet Baker - who began recording in 1952 - had been a star for less than a decade. Originally issued in 1958 as CHET The Lyrical Trumpet of Chet Baker, this album is purely instrumental and also features Herbie Mann, Pepper Adams, and Kenny Burrell. THE COMPLETE ALBUM + 1 BONUS TRACK - 180-GRAM CRYSTAL CLEAR VINYL - LIMITED EDITION

Although Chet Baker and Bill Evans were both highly lyrical and introspective players who could have made a marvelous team, they only recorded together on a couple of occasions. By the time these recordings were made in 1958-59, Chet Baker had been a star for less than a decade. This 1958 instrumental album presented Baker in an unusual setting, accompanied by great jazz musicians with whom he would only rarely play and record Evans, Herbie Mann, Pepper Adams, and Kenny Burrell. Chet Baker & Bill Evans - Alone Together - VINYL LP

Limited 180-gram vinyl LP import reissue. Forever on the cutting edge of jazz, trumpeter Chet Baker and pianist Bill Evans crafted InchAlone TogetherInch as a cool, bluesy gem on Dec. 28, 1958. It was released a month later to much acclaim and popular approval. Yet, jazz historians really note this album for being a true precursor to Miles Davis' InchKind of Blue.Inch InchAlone TogetherInch didn't quite catch fire like InchKind of Blue, Inch which was released just 7 months later, but it was a great warm up for Evans. Evans actually composed part of and played on Davis' InchKind of Blue.Inch This contains the complete original 1959 album plus one bonus track. If you love InchKind of Blue, Inch you will love InchAlone Together.Inch Wax Time.

Chet Baker - Chet Baker Sings - Limited 180-Gram Clear Vinyl - VINYL LP

The complementing talents of Chet Baker both as a trumpet player and as a singer are now well known, and Will McFarland's original 10-inch album liner notes, on which he compared Chet with Louis Armstrong, still seem quite appropriate. Both his trumpet and voice seem to be extensions of the same musical personality, and once you've become familiar with both facets of Baker, you expect to hear them both. However, this album was a revelation at the time and won Baker new fame and a new audience, which was less familiar with jazz than with pop music.
