The sound quality on these is great but the highs can be a bit too sharp on certain songs. If B&O works on that issue these things would be perfect. The sound staging makes you want to keep listening to music for longer periods of time. Comparing these to the sound of sony wh-1000xm2 and xm3, beats studio 2 and 3, power beats 3, beats x and jaybird x3. The sound these H9i reproduce makes you want to somewhat ditch the rest. In case you have any of those headphones, as a reference you can count on the H9i having a greater, fuller and wider soundstage. Wearing them side by side, one after the other. The difference in sound quality is very noticeable. Except for both sonys and the beats x, the rest are louder than the h9i at their highest setting. The sonys are somewhat around the same level in volume at the highest setting with the h9i and the beats x might be just a tad louder but not enough to tell a big difference. You'll notice how muffled the power beats 3 are, how harsh the jaybird x3 sound is, how centered the sound on the xm2s and xm3s is, how distorted the sound from both beats studios can get and how close to a better sound the beats x got compared to the h9i. While listening to bass heavy songs you can enjoy distortion free low end wide sounding bass on the h9i. It's just amazing how these can reproduce that low frequency without any bottoming out, pops and crackling noises. Comfort wise the xm2 are not as comfortable as the h9i but the xm3 now with the wider cups are a step ahead of the h9i in comfort. Even though the h9i somewhat sits on your ear instead of covering it all like the xm3. It is still very comfortable and causes no heat. Now for bluetooth, the h9i can be a little tricky when stepping away from your connected source. You might get some drops here or there if you decide to get a wall between them and your device. Battery life is great and no issues at all. Most might go for the new xm3s but everything else aside and just focusing in sound, the h9i are way over the rest......except the Bowers & Wilkins Px but that's a whole other review.

Overall these headphones sound great and look classy. I have used them during commutes wired and wirelessly. The sound is louder wirelessly by a small amount. The design is premium and they are not heavy on the head or ears. The sound is very clear with excellent bass response. Almost every track I've listened to I heard something different that I never heard before. The sound is perfect. The noise cancellation works very well. On other high-end headphones that I've owned when the volume was at max and the noise cancellation was active the sound was terrible and distorted. While in the store I also tried JBL noise canceling products to see if they had the same issue and I can report indeed they did. The touch response on these headphones is very responsive and accurate. I recommend disabling the auto pause feature of the headphones which is easy to do. Simply put the headphones in pairing mode then double tap on the right ear cup the indicator will turn red letting you know auto pause has been turned off. The reason I recommend the feature be disabled is it's not the best and several times it would pause my music even though I was wearing the headphones on my head. Overall I am pleased with my purchase.

First of all, I bought these in the Natural colorway when they're $400, so the price was within the ballpark of Sony XM3 and Bose QC 35 ii. And these sound significantly better with Apple Music (256 kbps acc) as compared to Spotify on highest quality (320kbps ogg), so if you're an iOS user you're in for a treat. One more thing, turn off proximity sensors people! I was at Bestbuy looking for a new pair of wireless ANC headphones following returning the QC35 to my friend after using it for 2 months. Now I'm a guy who loves a good design when I see one and cares a lot about how a product makes me feel, so I spent an hour in-store just going back and forth between Sony, Bose, and Beats because they're placed next to each other. After the hour, I still couldn't pick a clear winner. None of them are convincing enough to make me go: "Yep, this is it." Feeling conflicted and a bit bored, I wandered into the dimly-lit "Magnolia" section. There they were, the usual suspects: the B&Ws, Sennheisers, and Master & Dynamics. However, even when mixed with those other excellent headphones in such dim lights, the H9i design language immediately spoke to me on a personal level. "Dang these are some fine looking cans!" I muttered. I walked over, picked it up, put it on. "Um-hum, um-hum, that's good..." The audio is of high definition with very good separation and resonance. Put it back down, tried some nearby headphones, each has a different sound signature and sounds great but some lack wireless, some lack ANC, some clamp my unfortunately large head and ears, and some are just ugly. One thing I did notice is that they're not as comfortable and light as the Bose especially when I'm wearing glasses, but can easily rival Sony and beat most other headphones in terms of comfort. In terms of the overall feeling, man, I just couldn't get enough. I love the feel in my hand, around my neck, and over my ears. The way the battery cap and ear cups twist on and off with a satisfying click just speaks to the thoughtfulness of the design, very Apple-like. And this might sound weird but they smell great because of the genuine leather B&O used: I'm a big sucker for leather. The sound, the design, the feel; it's the complete package I've been looking for. With the h9i in hand, I signaled to the Magnolia attendant: "Excuse me, can you check these out for me, please?" ANC performance on these aren't the best in class: Sony and Bose are still better, but I have been in very few scenarios where I wished the ANC was better. There was this one time when I was doing work with these on and my roommate wanted to get food delivery with me and I completely ignored him because I had no idea he was talking to me. So he ended up ordering his own food and wasted an extra 3 dollars on delivery fees... If h9i can do this, it's good enough for me. Now to sound quality. I'm not an audiophile at all, so the results were purely down to personal tastes. I tested these against Sony XM3, Bose QC 35 ii, Bose QC 700, and Beats Pro. Sony is just different and more bass-heavy. There are definitely people who prefer that over the more balanced H9i. But when I tested QC 35ii, QC 700. Beats Pro against h9i in an Apple Store, the H9i was at least a level above them in terms of audio quality. Both the Bose sounded a bit muffled and stuffed, and I think the QC 35 even sounded better than the QC 700. The sound of the Bose is not as natural with very subdued highs and mids like the rapper/singer is performing from a recessed position. And the bass didn't sound as clean (as h9i) on the Bose. Beats... I don't want to talk about Beats. But there are more surprises. Last Sunday, I signed up for Apple Music's free trial, thinking of taking advantage of the Siri integration. I've always had Spotify Premium and always made sure to listen to the highest quality possible. (I know, I know, it's still heavily-compressed, but remember I'm not an audiophile, just an above-average consumer ;) What I wasn't expecting from this switch in music provider, was the very noticeable sound quality upgrade from the h9i. I played the usual stuff at first: some Nas, some Kendrick, some Biggie. And then I played some more Nas, some more Kendrick, some more Biggie; moving over to John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock; throwing in some Beethoven, Mozart, and J.S. Bach... Are you getting it? I was completely hooked and kept playing tracks one after another for hours on end. These headphones just sounded fuller, more resonant, and more punchy with Apple Music's AAC encoding since they only support SBC and AAC codecs. The music suddenly became 3D: it felt like my ears became another set of eyes where I was able to "see" the recording studio and everything in it. I was smiling like an idiot at the sweet sound these headphones produce in which the bass has just the right amount of oomph with a very clear separation between the instruments and zero distortion, the vocals flowed directly into my ears, and the trebles crisp but not piercing, separated but harmonized. They sounded addicting! Marrying h9i with Apple Music rekindled my love for these headphones and prompted me to write this way-too-lengthy and over-the-top review for Bestbuy. Sorry Spotify, you and h9i were just not meant to be. In conclusion, if you feel me, get the h9i. Experience a B&O product in its full glory.

These may be a bit expensive, but if you are looking for a great sounding set of over the ear headphones stop here. They are comfortable to wear and the battery life is great. They are understated which I like. No crazy colors or weird shapes or wires sticking out. Go ahead and jump off the fence and grab a pair if you can find them.

It's expensive, beautiful, light, exotic, comfortable, crystal-clear, isolating from the world out there. This headphone surpassed my expectations. B&O reached it's pinnacle of refinement in quality and engineering when designing this gorgeous product for music appreciation. It's well worth the dollars you invest, for you'll have years of entertainment and delight.

Bought these on sale. Liked the sound quality over Sony, and that I can replace ear pads and battery down the road. Liked the B&W PX also but they were a little less comfortable. Mids on PX are more forward, but I liked the bass on the H9i better. Sound stage on PX might have been a little better, but both have good clarity and sound isolation.

Considering the overall build, sound and ANC quality, this is the best headphone I believe you can buy today. ANC is definitely not as good as the Sony 1000xm2. In my experience, Sony completely knocked out almost all low mechanical humming I get in my office. It also muffled the chatting sound around me quite substantially. However, I felt that the sound quality was too flat for my preference. The build quality also fell way short comparing to B&Os. When you wear your headset around the neck, the rough plastic edges around the headband area really starts to cut around the side of your neck. Also, the resistance for the headband adjustment was way too loose. I had to constantly readjust every time I put the headset back on. Lastly, Sony’s get hot around your ear very quickly, and the ear cups were very uncomfortable. H9i’s on the other hand has crazy comfortable ear cups, perfect clamp force, amazing build quality and sound signature. The only thing it falls behind the 1000xm2 is the ANC performance. If you can find the h9i on sale, I wouldn’t hesistate buying it over the Sony’s. Especially when you consider that h9i has user replacement battery and super easy to replace ear cups.

High quality materials, exceptional sound, lots of compliments. I didn’t think I’d use but the noise canceling is amazing and I never turn it off! The sensors for the auto pause feature are a little buggy so I did turn that off, if I was eating something the music kept pausing and they slide around on top of my head just a bit. I gave it 4 out of 5 stars because for $500 there should be ‘zero” complaints but I still highly recommend them, if you can afford them.

Bought for these for air travel. Work great on a plane for noise canceling. Block out any ambient sound. Very clear and detailed sound too. Lightweight and comfortable to wear for a 3-4 hour flight without any fatigue on your ears. Would highly recommend.

Great sound , comfortable, Premium feel all over and improved software meaning the touch controls and phone app. Noise Cancelling is decent not as good as Bose and Sony but very good. Sound Stage is excellent over Bose and Sony. Right amount of bass and treble.

I’ve gone through many different headphones including the Bose QC 25, QC 35 and QC 35ii. This has to be by far the most luxurious built headphones. Sound quality is great with the option to adjust it with the app. The only con I can mention is the proximity sensor where it pauses your music when it senses that you removed the headphones. It isn’t as accurate as the Airpods as sometimes certain head movements pauses the music. Hope Bang and Olufsen will push an update someday again to rectify the issue.

Very good audio quality coming from iphone via bluetooth, I love B&O products. This h9i I gave 3 stars because at the beginning all sensors proximity works 99%, but then I got the latest firmware upgrade to this 5.0.4 if I'm not wrong, suddenly the right earcup only respond to play/pause. All other gestures such as from bottom to up (transparency mode), from up to bottom (NC on/off), left to right, right to left (next/previous) not working at all! (I tried to reset the headphone to its factory mode already) And the worst is the B&O support said that I got defect product. How could it be it is defect if at the start it's working, but when it's firmware's upgraded become lagged. Please give us additional firmware upgrade B&O (if you read this).

I purchased these as a birthday gift to myself. My son has the Bose QC35-2 headphones which are good headphones as well. We decided to do a side by side comparison. Other reviews stated there were issues with the Bluetooth setup. We did not experience any problems with that. We were aware that the headphones do not come with a case so we were prepared to purchase one, which we did for under $20.00. After our sound comparison he soon realized that you can certainly hear the difference. We synced both headphones to the same iPhones set at the same level and played the same song. From our small sample size, five people, all could hear the difference. The Bang and Olufsen’s out performed in sound quality.

Beoplay H9i feature a stunning aesthetic, high quality sound and excellent smart features. ANC is very good with one exception. The ANC processing does not handle sharp “s” sounds very well and some distortion can be heard. In addition the Beoplay app is very mediocre as it ruined the sound quality of the headphones when paired. Aside from that, these are a solid pair of headphones.

I spent MONTHS researching headphones, knowing I was going to spend between $350-$500. I was between the Bose QC, Sony WH1000, and these headphones. Since the B&Os were on sale, I went into the store and decided to try all 3 on. I fly frequently and take the L to work, so noise cancellation was #1 priority, and wearing them for around 5-6 hours a day was the #2 priority. The Bose by far are the comfiest and lightest, the Sonys felt bulky and fell off when I bent over. the B&O were clearly the most stylish and loved the sound. The features on the right earphone have become my favorite, being able to hear around me w/ a swipe as well as skip to the next song have been easy to master. My only gripe is that the leather headband has minimal padding and actually makes my scalp red after a few hours of wearing, I wish they had used the same supple materials as the earcups. All-in-all, super happy with the purchase and the range of tones/bass I get from these.

I'm usually a wire headphone guy. I had been looking recently for a really good wireless option for travel with ANC and a good soundstage. The H9i's offer a great soundstage, but at cost. These are not for all those bass heavy lovers out there. The soundstage is neutral with a good degree of clarity in the mids and highs. This specific model also has a replaceable battery, which can be ordered from B&O. The newer H9 has a fixed battery which was why I went with this model. So I'm fairly happy with those features as well as the fit and finish and longterm comfort. But I need to talk about the negatives too. ANC is poor with not enough active pressure to fully block out annoying droning sounds. And the connection via BT can be spotty at times, getting random interferences from time to time. They aren't deal breakers, but small annoyances that can add up. Overall these have been one of the best performing/sounding wireless headphones I've owned thus far.

These are the headphones I've been waiting for my whole life. The clarity is amazing, the bass is amazing, the construction is amazing. It's just overall amazing. The only gripe I have is that it's heavy. However, for something that is built so sturdy, you kinda have to expect that. When I wear it for a couple hours, it starts to make the top of my head sore, but I just adjust it and keep listening. I 100% recommend this item. 0 issues.

These are the best headphones I have ever heard. I tried several others in the same price range and these were the best hands down. What made them for me is the software allowed yo to "feel" the separation of the instruments in the music. I could sense where they were on the stage..I am a bass player and the bass response on them is great.

I graduated to the H9i's from a pair of beats and the difference in audio quality is astounding. The touch interface is something I didn't think I'd make much use of but its so simple and easy to use and very convenient when I've got these in t the office. If there was an audio equivalent to smooth butter, it would be the sounds that come out of these cans! I could not recommend these headphones any more than I already do.

These are well built and sound great. Not for small heads though. All of the functions are great and work well. I do have trouble with volume gestures but it’s getting easier. The sound is tops. If you try these and they keep pausing, you have to turn them on while off your head for the proximity sensors to calibrate each time. No problems after that lol.
